Who Rode Today?

Brother-in-law is visiting for the month. He's full-time in an RV with an enclosed trailer for the dual-sport. Going to show him the Washougal River road loop this afternoon. Should be fun.

New front tire on today and the Harley crew aren’t talking about riding so I’m gonna rip around on the Busa.
Today when picking up the bike there was a lot of brake drag or something rubbing up front. So bad that I didn’t even get out of the parking lot, so I pulled back in and asked if it was test ridden. The tech comes back out to say he went around the block to which I told him was bull poop or his helmet was the best ever at being quiet. I told him go again in front of me and he didn’t get 20’ before saying “let me go look at it but that’s normal”. 25mins later I get called into the shop to see the bike with a jack under the header to barely get the wheel up. He spins it and says “see that’s normal”. This time tho it’s clearly corrected and noticeably quieter, I told him that’s normal but it wasn’t before. Also told him I hope we don’t have any exhaust leaks going forward or we know where they came from. Long time service writer there tried to make nice but I told him “that guy doesn’t do my tires anymore”.
So now looking for a manual tire a machine and good front stand. Opinions and suggestions are appreciated

Literally yesterday my wife and I had a debate about potential locations for a tire changer.

The No-Mar HD products look good. I am looking for any photos or reference of these machines being folded up for storage as there is no permanent place for one.

Ouch, it looks like it is recommended to bolt these to the floor. That is not for me.

Dang!

Got some miles in with my son today. We rode out for some breakfast tacos, then off th the cemetery to see my dad and then walk around and say hello to all who are resting there. A few dates back to the 1700s so I wanted to be sure they all got a visit and were not forgotten. Then we did a 20 mile ride back Nice to get some wind therapy

1700’s!

I went out for a quick ride this morning, did around 100kms in a rapid manner....

There was a bit of a gusty wind out there and it was hard to see except when the leaves where blowing across the road...a few times I was almost stood up in a hard lean and had to fight the bike a little.....

The sides of the road must have received some fresh gravel as there was lots of it on the road which made things a bit tricky....and hard to stop for any decent pictures.

Also hard to find a spot where I haven't taken a picture from before.....it turns out although there is great scenery, there are also few places to stop and take pictures of it...

What is your mind-set regarding deer / animals?

There are many variables when riding a moto. When they are in sight, I slow down. But, even though I am aware of the hazard, if they are out of sight, I usually try to put them out of mind and moto on. I figure if it's going to happen, it will happen, and there isn't much I can do about it.

I have hit 2 deer on bikes.
I didn't go down for either.
One at 43mph, one at 83mph
The 43mph one, I wheelied my front tire into his azz, and pushed him out of my way, and there was no damage.
The 83mph I hit head on into it's side, and then she flung around and hit me.
Sore, and $3k worth of new parts.
I see deer, and every other critter you can think of on most every ride.
I've seen 2 black bear in less than 2 weeks.
I always see them, but pay them little mind.
I hate to hit and kill anything, so I avoid it whenever possible.
But, it's what I've always been used to, so I never really stop to think about it.
Besides, "Careful will get you killed"
lol

I ride with my head on a swivel in both an offensive and defensive stance....always watching, always vigilant....

I have yet to hit any critters although I've seen many and have had many come near the road....(knock on wood).

I see lots of roadkill-mostly raccoons and some of them are huge, hitting one of them even with a car would be a real jolt....it makes me wonder if people hit them on purpose....

Worst thing I've ever seen on the road(motorcycle wise, and I was driving a tractor trailer at the time) was on a road that I ride often.
It was a Snapping Turtle, the big ones with the jagged shell and dragon looking head.
The shell was over a foot in diameter, not including it's head, tail, or limbs, and it stood over a foot high.
Aggressive bastids that can take your hand off.
In the 15-20 lb range
Point is...it's a wandering boulder.
Had the big truck' steer tire hit it...it would've blown.
Hit that on 2 wheels...and you better hope you know how to jump a motorcycle...
But...I imagine hitting an alligator is worse, lol
And that is something I think about watching all of the Mexico Florida 200mph racing...
Let one of those things be crossing the road...

When my boys were young, we used to haul our dirtbikes out to a spot to ride them and there was around 5 miles of gravel/forest road to get there.

We'd encounter the big snappers app the time and I'd stop and move them off the road as there were always logging trucks on that road...they'd whip their heads back on their shell trying to get me but I'd grab them at the back of their shell...

One time we encountered a partridge standing in the middle of the road and I had to get out and actually chase it off the road as it just stood there....they are so stupid....
