Who Rode Today?

What is this “too fast” you speak of?
Hi. No bike Sunday but took a ride to New England Drag Way.

I got out for a ride today...I still haven't sent my ECU away to load on a canned tune so the bike is acting a little off...

I have more vibration and it "chugs" a bit at lower rpms with a very slight hesitation when you ease on the throttle.....however if you rail through the gears and whack the throttle with the revs up, it feels the same as it always did.....I think the dyno tuning through the Bazzaz was more for getting the AFR sorted out in the lower rpms......

The best thing is the bike hasn't missed a beat since I took the Bazzaz off.....and I haven't been left on the side of the road.....I'll take a little finicky-ness over that any day.....

I'm en route to Ashville NC. Made a stop at Barber Motorsports museum.

Motorcycle porn to the highest level!
Kind of hard to describe how to put this place in perspective. This is taken from the 5th floor looking down. Those are not model or toy bikes or miniatures. These are actual real deal bikes stacked in these displays alongside the elevator. And this isn't anything close to what's on the multiple floors to view.

If you like motorcycles, for that matter all things mechanical, they have cars too, this is a bucket list destination.

It's situated over an active track. Today was Porsche day. You can walk right out over the track and watch them.

I took so many dirty pics. I feel l like a cheap whore.

Finished up my trip to the Smokies on the Wing. Obviously hit some good Twisties along the way. Sort of shocked when she found the pegs a few times. The big old girl will go where she's told. She just likes a little more manhandling to get there.

It was my 1st time to see how the double dark side tires worked out. Takes a little more effort to push her, but if she can find pegs, she's far enough over for me. And she stands up quicker.

Wasn't setting any speed records. Wasn't trying. But a lot of 2-3 gears in the 3-4K RPM range seems to be her sweet spot. Actually warmed up the brakes enough that I had some brake fluid vent out. So I'll suck a thimble full out.

1400 miles total. 800 of which were in the mountains. She was flawless.

Come on July 4.

I need another.

I added a little more distraction that was self imposed. I had gone bluetooth. But the helmets that came with it were Honda hardwired setup. Works brilliantly for the onboard system. But you can't pipe in phone functions. All you can do is hear that your phone is ringing. You can't answer it. And I'm always fielding calls it seems.

So I was casually looking at helmets. 2 days before I am set to leave, an ad pops up located an hour away. 2 brand new Sena helmets. Never worn. So I did a little research and thought WTH, not top of the line, but not top of the line pricing either.

We chat. Agree to meet halfway. The day before I leave. Met him. Dude was straight up. Helmets were legit brand new but I didn't need 2 of them.

Nope both or no deal.

Sort of anticipating this, I brought some cash with me.

I'm like dude I don't even know if I like these helmets and I don't even have a passenger.

Nope. Both or nothing.

I low balled him the chyt out of the pair of helmets. And pulled out crisp $100s. He said nope. So I walked. His wife apparently vetoed him as he called me as soon as my door closed.

OK deal.

So now the day before I'm set to leave I have one helmet I have to figure out how to work, and one I don't even need. Up til 11 the night before, charging, updating firmware, pairing, linking up all that chyt.

And off I go next day. Spent about 300 miles trying to intuitively figure the helmet/Honda world out. When you're by yourself for 300 miles you can't call yourself very easy. Lol.

So by the time I hit Chattanooga (day 2), I thought it was sorted. Rain came in Chattanooga. Hard! Heavy traffic, road construction etc, was a lot of focus needed. Got on the other side of Chattanooga which is pretty much all foothills and rising elevation. Still raining like hell. So I'm now using my phone in my helmet to book a room an hour or so out. I'm getting tired from Chattanooga.

Freaking phone starts taking calls, text, VMs. I had all these tones going off, and this canned voice asking me if I'd like to have my text read to me. I'm like how the hell do I turn this off!

Never figured it out. So it was master volume down to shut the phone up. Lol

But now you can't hear the Nav. Which I really needed!

So let's add some Twisties to that.

So that was a lot of new chyt to manage that I did to myself.

I felt old by the end of that day!

Since then, I'm now a full supporter of modular helmets. Helmets have stepped up their games since my last purchase. More new chyt to make normal. But man you really can do a lot with Bluetooth now.
