Sheeesh traffic. I remember it well. The last couple years I lived in San Jose my commute was ten miles. It took 30 minutes in each direction. Now it’s two lanes everywhere!
My commute is 32 miles each way. The morning I can get there in about 30-40 minutes. I leave early enough to beat the traffic. Afternoons take me a hour- hour 30-45 ish. Thank GOD its cooling a smidge to make it bearable. I actually pulled out of the traffic line the other day as I was about to pass out. Somone got out of there car and gave me a cold water. Not sure who they were but God bless em.

Gotta bring your own water man. I use my tankbag as a cooler and having a cold drink whenever I want can be a lifesaver. Years ago for 11 years I worked in Berkeley and my commute was 49 miles each way. I wore out a bunch of tires driving 500 miles a week. Never again thankfully.

I ride 2 or 3 times a week, summer or Winter, Winter is great because you get to rug up with all the new Hi-tech fabrics and my sport bike has heated grips which makes the hands warm as toast. But we didn't get a lot of Winter this year, the climate here has changed dramatically in the past 4 or 5 years. We get back to back La Nina now which causes good rains and mild Winters and Summers. I hope it's a permanent shift. Droughts are no fun at all.
I do notice as I get older I stay closer to home, it's been years since I did even an overnighter. A nice days riding then back to a cosy home.

I zig zagged north thru five counties yesterday on the Busa and turned around at Chinese Camp on 49 and rode back. Total mileage was 211. Low fuel light came on @ 150 something. Gassed up @ 175 miles with 4.5 gallons which netted me 38.8 mpg. My ‘reserve’ is a gallon even so I can pretty much gauge how far I’ve got left when the light comes on. Based on my CA five gallon tank, if I can actually fill it with five gallons, that would give me a 194 mile range. I always fill it on the side stand so the capacity is probably less than five. Somewhere in Utah one year I took on 5.1 but that must have been a generous pump. The gas station I counted on, the one I stopped at the previous year, had burned to the ground. Saw quite a few sport bikes on 49 for a change, Harleys too. Funny, the Merced river is very low inside the Park but quite high in the foothills to the west. Turned over 83,000 miles and in four months it will be 19 years old. Saw some ducks…diving. They turn completely upside down butt in the air for a moment and then repeat.

I’m thinking of heading north in the morning on 49 before winter sets in. Zig zag to Lassen NP then west over 299 towards the coast then south on 101 for a bit then east on the famed hiway 36 thru Bridgeville and Dinsmore then south one way or nother back home. Be out 4-6 days probably. Whaddyabet I don’t see any Hayabusas or CBXs…

...then better take the Kawasaki
lol

You could easily rig one of those child/rider restraint belts to secure your groceries or a couple 12 packs.

I could, but I can get Two 12 packs in the top case/trunk, lol, and still have some more room, and alot more in the side cases.
Plus I can strap things to the rack on the trunk.
I've loaded it up a few times.
I still can't belive how much fun I have with this thing.
