Who Rode Today?

If you move back to Ontario, the rules for "historic plates" are much different.

I know... the RF would just be another motorcycle out there. At least the rates would be cheaper than our ICBC monopoly, but not $194/yr cheap. I used to get a multi-vehicle discount out there, listing all of my stuff on one policy. Out here in BC, every policy is a stand-alone so you have to pay health benefits for your person on every vehicle despite the fact that you can't be riding/driving more than one at the same time. That's what happens when you let your government control everything... no one wins. Except them.

Riding to socially distance myself today...from my cat. :D Got in almost 180 miles today on the Z @ almost 47mpg! Headed SE this time into the Sierra National Forest past Millerton Lake, Shaver Lake and Huntington Lake. Crossed the Tamarack Ridge @ 7,582’. Was 52 and brisk in motion but really nice standing around. As you can see the sky was blue with a few puffy clouds. The road was clean and traffic was fine. Only saw four other bikes.

Where were all you guys?:D

I got out for a short ride, the bugs were thick, lots of cleaning afterwards.

Came to a set of lights and a newer Mustang came up beside me and opened his active exhaust up, it was loud as heck, it was all blacked out and he started revving his engine in some sort of "let's go" indication...

He was so concentrated on kicking my arse that he didn't see the low profile police cruiser across the intersection.

As the light changed, he lit the thing up and went through the intersection, I stopped to let the now lit up low profile cop car do a u turn and go after him...as I went by, the cop was just approaching his driver's door...

Stupid is what stupid does...

Had a great day out there in freezing wind, it was a celebration of the shortest day here downunder in NZ.
Went for a circuit ride out on the roads around the local municipality.. . . Was fast and furious with 42 other bikes close formation... which I do not enjoy, way too dicey with egos taking over and sanity and safety left behind at the last pub stop.
My strategy was to always stay within the first few bikes at the front.... worked out well, but the forward momentum of the group of 5 (me included) became a little “ hectic” and we stretched out a 200 yard gap from the main pack.
Anyway, I got home safely, guardian angel taking the brunt of it, and here’s few pics from one of the stops.
Weather was overcast, 8 degC, windchill around zero, light breeze, road conditions were good considering it’s winter roads.

Awesome group..
Glad you got home safe too..
The riding @ this time of year.. It's a love / hate relationship for me..

Helluva selection of bikes, from flathead Indians to a Hayabusa. That black Indian with full valanced fenders is sweet! I’d like to head out myself, both bikes are clean and ready but for the next week or so temps will be in the high 90s and above. Even if I rode up high where it’s cool it’s an hour plus in the heat both ways just to get there with the Park being closed.

Sure was an assortment of bikes . . . the lead bikes were the full dresser Indian, the white one, he's the Prez of the club, then a Kawasaki 1800 v twin cruiser, massive bike and a hell of a rider, in the pic below, then the red Moto Guzzi Le Mans 1000cc in the pics, very quick and also a great rider, then me on my bird, then a guy on a '04 GSX1200SS Suzook, fast bike, good rider, he was testing his roll on accelaration beside me and I won that lol.
But the speeds were up there and the cars we passed on the two lane roads (all we have here ) were not impressed, got a lot of honks and waves, not the friendly kind of hand waves at all lol.
See the DR650 dirt bike in the 2nd pic? Yeah well he was sitting on 100mph in places, and pulling wheelies in the slower parts, he must've removed about a third of the life of that poor little engine!

Thanks brother, I feel unsafe in big groups, especially when the pace is hot, and I have serious power and speed at my disposal . . . tempting to just nail everyone and go to the front of the class, BUT and that's a big BUT, I don't wanna be exposed out front, to become a target for a radar gun, or a car turns in front etc.. I like living.
But today the road conditions were really good even though it's cold.
It's just rained for two days solid here and the roads have been washed clean and clear, but I did get peppered by a bike I was behind when he pulled out and passed a car at 180 kays and sprayed all the fine stones in the centre of the road, I was only about 10 meters behind him and lookin' to pass him, he was in my sights!
