Why is it??

I weigh enough (around 215) but I'm only 5' 10" so there's always the chance of being challenged.

I had a former colleague who outweighed me by a fair bit but I could take him down pretty quickly...he had the size and intimidation if we went somewhere, people would immediately be wary of him and dismiss me...it worked in my favor though.

In the beginning because of my size (probably weighed 160 when I joined) I was always picked as a demo for the instructor during our CQC (Close Quarter Combat) training but after a few times of me taking out the instructor they started to leave me alone. I was a black belt going into the military.

I'm 5'10" also...but 160-165lbs, and made it half way to black belt(we did white, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, red, brown, black, I tested for blue.)
One friend made it to black...I tired of the relentless beatings, lol, but loved the simple self defenses I learned.
My friends and fought alot when we were younger, and fortunately not anymore(aging aches and pains, lol).
I always thought that being underestimated was my greatest advantage too.
I never underestimate anyone.
I have been suprised at the big scary guys who just fold up...and the small guys that would tear your ass to pieces.
My Dad always told me, "Just remember, no matter how big and bad you are, or Think you are...there's always going to be someone bigger and badder waiting around the corner".
Yep...and I Never started a fight in my life either.

One of the toughest guys I knew was a little guy, he barely met the minimal size to get into spec ops...one of his hobbies was martial arts of all kinds along with weapon fighting...he had at least 6 or 7 black belts in various disciplines...

I never heard him cuss, raise his voice or lose his temper...ever even under fire.

He was/is a dangerous, dangerous man

I think I know that guy too, lol.
One thing that always impressed me was watching SEAL training and BUDs graduation.
Those guys come in All shapes and sizes...and all completed the same training.
Again, I Never underestimate anyone.

Last night our 10 yr old grand daughter came over and said she was going to cook supper...once she got everything lined up and had me working, she disappeared and came back once I had everything done..

She'll make someone a good wife one day....

Grandpa's...aka...suckers.
My 10 year old daughter can do wrong in my Dad's eyes...and the same things that would've gotten me killed growing up, lmao

I figured
I've got 7 grand kids, 5 of them are girls 12, 2x10, 6 and a 5 yr old....2 boys 5 and 2....

We see one of the 10 yrs old's the most...she is a special little lady...big blue eyes and blonde curly hair...she generally gets what ever she wants when she's with us....and she knows it.....we don't see the other ones very often sadly.

Only two for me, four and six.

Here's a thread on why is it that people are nuts...?

Why do people who are first at a stop light and delay going on the green (like 10 seconds) go nuts when you honk the horn to let them know the light's green? Today just such a thing happened and the lady started driving like a mad person, speeding and driving crazy.

Why do people pull onto a busy hiway and go 20 under the speed limit? I've had this happen to me and expected the driver to speed up to traffic speeds but didn't, the traffic backed up behind them for kms and it seemed they never looked back....
It is about good manners and civility.

Unfortunately a great part of the population are on a mission of their own, with little regard for anything or anyone else.

I spent a great part of my life driving the Autobahn in Germany, where the fast lane is for passing only. So, naturally that is the way I drive here. Perhaps one in fifty drivers over here would respect that, so I always end up getting either blocked in the slow lane, or end up blocked behind someone in the fast lane.

I take my kids on my bikes. I think I started when they were 7.
I took my kids on them as well around that age...

I got a PW50 for them, then a TTR90 then a TTR125 then a TTR230 then an XR350R when they got a little older. There is 2 yrs difference between my sons so they naturally followed each other on the bikes I got...it worked out great.

The grandkids want bikes/quads but their parents won't let us get them any...

I saw former "man bun" guy....I say former because he got a haircut and has joined society...he was all "yes, sir, no, sir" today and really polite...he even said his girlfriend is happier with him too.

I guess there might be some hope for the future....maybe....

Whilst sitting at the lights turning left this morning, I saw two oncoming car travelling in the right turn lane when one of the cars pops out into the straight through lane at the last second before entering the intersection and flies through the intersection...

As the left turning lane has the right away in this instance, it could have been really bad if I exercised that right away...

I talked to a buddy of mine who is a police officer in Toronto (since '90) and he was saying the powers to be be are coming out with some "nanny" devices to keep them on the straight and narrow.

One is a system that automatically links in when their radar or laser detects a dangerous speed (here if you go over the limit by 50 KH in a 90+KPH road or 40 KPH in an 80-KPH road is deemed street racing and huge fines/impoundment, etc). This will give the police officer no allowance to let people off or reduce the offence. He said he pulled over a sport bike last summer that was well over the limit but when he found the rider to be a little older, properly dressed and promptly pulled over so he let him off with a warning when he saw his license was clear...with this new system, his hands would be tied and that guy would have been in a world of hurt. He figures once the public knows this, chases will become the norm although there's talk of them not being allowed pursue in the future due to public liability.

He said they are also working on a way to detect when your firearm is removed from it's holster, an officer will have to call in when he removes it for cleaning or storage at the division.

He is close to retirement and is really, really looking forward to that.
