How many in your group, she said.

15 I replied, there’s only one cook and we just got in a big party. Yeah, that’s not gonna work. Creston was full of bicycles, there were hundreds of them, everywhere, and there was a rodeo going on, or just a lot of random horses & horse trailers everywhere. Creston is a tiny ranching town east of Paso Robles with a population of 31 people. Not today. But, Creston is famous with bikers not for its tiny population, horses or bicycle events, rather it’s the start of Highway 229, better known as Rossi’s Driveway.

If Rossi had a driveway, this would be it, Highway 229 is playground for adults, a destination, swoopy, narrow, no center line, re-paved a few years back and a mere 5 miles. It’s typically deserted, but today it was full of bicycles, thankfully all headed the opposite direction we were.

Let’s try Santa Margarita, Mark said.

I’m game, let’s head west. Santa Margarita is another tiny town along the 101 corridor, there used to be nothing there. No food, no gas, no open businesses, a shell of a town. Nothing. But there is now fuel and a new restaurant, the town was hoppin’. And I got breakfast for lunch.

Plus, we were joined for lunch by Wil, a Hayabusa rider off the Hayabusa.org forum from Temecula in SoCal and wandering around on his Hayabusa. Pure chance our paths crossed, but it was a pleasure meeting you Wil, look forward to having you join us for a full tour.

h.org member Wil, hollywooduno, rode up from SoCal with the intent to meet up. By chance, we did!

Park Hill Rd is a favorite backroad, twisty and single lane

Better go around that. Huge heave in the middle of the road

Reaming the hole. Nice clean puncture means a mushroom from a Stop-n-Go kit works perfect. We carry mushrooms & worms. The mushrooms work best 95% of the time. If it's a cut, mushrooms don't work as well so we always carry both.

You stud...

I'm on track for +/- 4k this year, which I feel pretty good about.

I just did a group ride for the first time in forever. Super fun on the social end. Lots of great conversation. But I had forgotten about the flow of a large group. Sometimes I was with a fast group, then a slow group. Traffic signals might seperate us. Any advice regarding group ride etiquette?
