45 Days on a Gen3 Hayabusa - 2023 Pashnit Touring

Bitterwater Rd is a remote ride in San Luis Obispo County through a region of rolling hills. We're only about 50 miles from the ocean, so technically this is still the Coast Range. This extreme green is not normal and varies by year. Other seasons it's been dry and already turning golden brown this time of year. With our crazy winter, we were amazed at how green it all was and how much standing water there was still.

Green grass is (so) much nicer. Too bad it’s not green year round. We ran into water on several sections of 120 east of 395 as we came out of Nevada a couple months ago. There were several areas where gravel and silt remained from the water runoff. Can sure be tricky if you’re not paying attention.

You stud...

I'm on track for +/- 4k this year, which I feel pretty good about.

I just did a group ride for the first time in forever. Super fun on the social end. Lots of great conversation. But I had forgotten about the flow of a large group. Sometimes I was with a fast group, then a slow group. Traffic signals might seperate us. Any advice regarding group ride etiquette?

Yes...don't ride with Harleys...
lmao

Correct. When i got it, it had a ~1000 miles on it. :D It'll be 13,000 by next weekend. ;)
Tim, have to come for a ride with you one day, my son lives in Morro Bay. Problem is I am on the East Coast, right across the continent from you.

Was the Gen3 upgrade worth it for you, totally satisfied with the bike?

Love the new bike. Finally, got the Hot Start Issue sorted out, now to address the master cylinder issue likely once my tour season ends in November.

Plus, this is the one place I can post a zillion pictures of the same motorcycle, and that's not weird or anything. :D

A few years ago, 2013 actually, I called my ride buddy Mark & said I’ve got this new idea for a motorcycle tour and I need to pre-run the route. Want to come along?

He didn’t hesitate. Here's my idea. Let’s ride all the mountain peaks that surround the San Francisco Bay Area. Riders call them the Three Sisters: Mount Hamilton, Mount Diablo, and Mount Tamalpais.

Pre-running the Three Sisters Tour in 2013, a decade ago. Seems like yesterday.

Planning the next ride while on a ride. (I rode my second Iron Butt Ride, 1687 miles in 36 hours, a few months later)

We ran into a Pashnit Tour Alumni hanging out on the side of the road and he joined us for lunch. Strange coincidence.

I do miss this bike. My second Hayabusa. It was set up perfect.
