Forest fire that came through here in 2020 razed most of the trees, but the hillsides are green

This is what a superbloom looks like. This is normally very dry region & winter rains have made everything super green.

What our 2022 winter rains looked like. This is an atmospheric river. Same amount of water in the Amazon River floating through the sky.

Last stop of the ride before heading for home base.

I have another motorcycle tour to lead in just 12 days. I'm headed for Sequoia & Kings Canyon NP next with a smaller group of 9 bikes.

Sequoia NP Motorcycle Tour

In 2022, I introduced a motorcycle tour headed for Sequoia NP and 38 people signed up. The response was a bit of a shock. What do I do with 40 motorcycles? I split the group into two different tour dates, and we had a great time plus lucked out with riding into Kings Canyon, a 8200 ft deep canyon, making it the deepest canyon in the United States, the very day it was opened up to the public. With the crazy last winter we've had in California and the immense amount of snow above 8000 ft, it was doubtful we'd get to ride into the 5000-ft deep canyon this year.

Road Closures have been the theme of our spring ride season, and we're just working with what's still open. We've also managed to complete 5 tours so far this season in perfect weather. For the 6th tour of the ride season, the forecast looked questionable, and changed every day: rain, no rain, maybe rain, wee bit of rain, in the end, it was damp, but only a few minutes of rain. Perfect!

The meet spot for this ride is in the center of the state, which meant leaving the day before to get near the meet spot for the next day.

Stopping in at Rancho Seco Nuclear Power Plant, not operational since the 80s

My ride buddy Mark just started a new tour company for touring Portugal. He's originally from France, but knows Portugal Motorcycle Roads like I know California Roads. You've always wanted to tour through Europe, check him out: Marc motorcycle touring
