45 Days on a Gen3 Hayabusa - 2023 Pashnit Touring

There was a time when everyone on this site bought Ventura Racks. I was even a dealer for them way back when and had one on my Gen2 Busa

Couple hours later , Chris said his rear tire was feeling a little soft. It was. It was at 15 psi.

We pumped it back up but couldn't find a nail or hole. He didn't have a pump so I lent him mine.

This pump is the Oasser Air Compressor off Amazon. It actually works really well. Set the psi you want, and pump stops at that psi. He made it home but never found the hole and had to replace the tire.

Sierra Nevada Mountain Pashnit Tour

"I’ve been riding around California for decades and I’ve never been on this road", he said. Luc first rode with me in 2011. We’ve been riding together on Pashnit Motorcycle Tours for 12 years, and I’m still showing him new roads.

Iowa Hill Rd is paved, single lane, and almost a 20% grade. Zero guard rails, and it’s a long way down into the canyon below. Oddly enough, it’s not remote, Colfax & Interstate 80 are over there.

The plan was to start this tour in Colfax, as just across the highway is this little known and rarely used road to Iowa Hill. Gold miners from Iowa found gold in the1850s atop the hill and named it… wanna guess? What makes Iowa Hill interesting is there’s no electricity here and no wired phone service. This place was never connected to the electrical grid, yet it’s within walking distance of civilization. Quirky & I’m told, a favorite road for bicyclists. We didn’t see anyone, not one other vehicle. Which is probably good since it’s a single lane road.

Iowa Hill is all about gold of course. The gold is long gone, and why this community was never connected to the electrical grid, who knows.

Seeing these in the wild is fun. I used to teach Marines how to drive these many years ago which was a fun job.
