45 Days on a Gen3 Hayabusa - 2023 Pashnit Touring

Reaching the Leggett Section. I've posted a zillion pics of this 22-mile stretch if you follow my stuff.

One of the topics we love to talk about in any Safety Brief with riders on a Pashnit Motorcycle Tour are decreasing radius corners. These are corners that seem at first to have an easy entry, but as the rider enters a corner that appears to have a smooth arc, the radius begins to decrease once you’re committed to your line. We say these corners are ‘tightening up’. Hwy 1 has an endless list of decreasing radius corners, both lefts and rights. The Leggett Section has many, many of these decreasing radius turns and setting the proper line as you enter the corner is super important.

Every time we ride the Leggett Section, it's a mandatory break at the end. Bikers are often parked there at the end doing the same thing.

My son is a huge fan of the Back to the Future movies.

We ran into this pristine example randomly and I had to send him some pics. He thought that was pretty cool.

Looked like it had just rolled out of John Delorean's factory.

These cars were made in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Watch the Delorean documentary on Netflix.

John Delorean and his cocaine deal to save his dying company. Interesting stuff.

Rest stop over, we were about to leave when someone starts pointing & motioning. We seem to be getting a lot of flats this season.

In case you're wondering, this is the kit we carry: It's 20 bucks and a lifesaver.

I've fixed so many flat tires on these tours, I ran out of plugs in my kit, so 30 plus tires we have plugged in the last couple of years.

Mushrooms work on 95% of punctures. The other 5% are large holes, odd angle holes(the mushrooms don't seem to get a good seal on these) or small cuts, those require worms (aka rope plugs). So we also carry a worm kit.

10 minutes later, we got a good seal & we're all fixed, pumped back up and on the way. Yes, we also carry tire pumps.

Oasser Tire pump I got off Amazon. It works good actually. We used to carry corded pumps that plugged into a SAE outlet on the bike, but we all carry these simple battery ones. Set the PSI and just turn it on, it shuts off when it reaches the PSI.

On these tours, we generally stop about every hour, kick tires, swap stories and relax, take in the view. No hurry to be anywhere.

Just enjoying the moment. Perfect weather and warming up now that we're away from the Pacific Coastline.

Awesome bunch of riders in this tour group

A turn north at Wildwood gets us onto Wildwood Rd which has some fun single lane twisties

Wildwood Rd goes through a river valley and also has a natural bridge along the way , but we skipped that this particular ride.

What we skipped... We'll come back here someday. Cool natural limestone natural bridge in the mountain along Wildwood Rd.

Wildwood gets us to Hayfork... And Hayfork Pass - Highway 3, one of my favorite NorCal roads, and they recently repaved a lot of the pass.

Super awesome curves. If we get lucky, we ride the full length of the pass and hit just 1 or 2 other cars.

This was the place to go to drag knees. No people. Smooth curves. Perfect sight lines.
