9.35@145 today. Opinions from the 1/4 mile experts please

My mph was never high either around 148-149, and im 170lbs! Buy some mr-12 and tune it. Keep the bike close to E when racing each gallon is 7lbs i think.

Will try it. Why do you think the MPH is down so much? I have video of the track day if it will help any.

Have you done anything to the clutch? Your gearing is too tall for your weight and wheelbase. Works the clutch harder. It may be slipping causing your mph to drop off.
I've been 119mph in the 1/8 out here in West Texas with a DA of over 3500ft and me sitting at 210 suited. With your DA, you should be pulling 122ish or better and 150ish in the 1/4 as was already mentioned. I would not do any mods til I found out why your not pulling the mph, ESPECIALLY since you mentioned it was pulling more last year. Btw, what was it pulling last year?

A video could be helpful. Post it up or send to hybrid1277@yahoo.com

I dont know if they enter change, Gen 1- Gen 2 but Ive got a 44 tooth vortex hagging on the wall I could let go cheap

Stock Gen2 gearing is 18/43...the gears will NOT interchange with Gen1 gears.

Here is a link to the vids. The Two passes that ran 8.90's was a built , super strecthed ZX14

Thanks for the help and input guys

Looks/sounds like you are fighting the tall gearing. There were a few passes that sounded pretty good, but you need more gearing. Could'nt tell alot, but it sounded like you were short shifting the 1-2 shift a few times. That is one gearshift you need to get the most from. Dunno why the low mph though. The bike "sounds" good, but you can hardly tell from that.
You are doing a good job of launching with the tall gearing. No big "boggs" or drop in rpm. Well, i think there was one but none were as bad as the guy on the 8.9sec bike. He needs to work on launching that bike(whether its him or the clutch or both). He also needs to work on staying off the limiter. 8.9 sec looks impressive til you see he is pulling 162mph! I've run 8.9's on a stretched/lowered stock motored ZX-14 with me at 205 suited and with a 2500ft DA. I only pulled 150mph.
If i were you, i'd also wanna know what kinda hp you are making and what the a/f ratio looks like.
I can't recall at the moment...are you running a PC of some kind? Does your pipe have an 02 sensor bung in it? I have an Innovate LM-1 wide band 02 and data logger i'd loan you for a couple of weeks if you wanted to borrow it and maybe do some tuning. Just pay shipping to and from and take care of it is all i would require. Just lemme know...

My guess is that your only putting down 160-165hp to the wheel. Happen to know your weight suited and the bikes? I'm guessing somewhere around 725-735 rider/bike combo?

Thanks for the offer and input Mark.

I had a intake seals,gsxr1000 stacks and a front sprocket laying around. I am installing and then having the bike tuned on the dyno Wed. night. Will let you know the outcome.

Thanks again

I should be about 220 suited assuming the leathers and stuff weigh about 20 pounds.

No problem. Be sure to get a before/after dyno AND A/F before/after. Let us know how it turns out.

How many miles are on your bike?

BTW, what tire are you running?

Your doing very well working around the tall gearing. Its not the easiest thing to do, believe me! When i moved out to West Texas from East Texas, i lost .1 in the 1/8 and right at 2mph. What was worse, the altitude really saps the tq down low. Had to really adjust my launch rpm, especially when trying to launch a liter bike(gsxr1000). Out here i was launching at 7K and having fits trying to keep the bike from bogging. Took the bike closer to sea level and i was launching at 5K and it was MUCH easier to be consistant.
Keep it up! Once you get the bike pulling good mph, it won't take you long to get your 60's a little better and more consistant and you will be flying!
My thoughts are that if you get the bike pulling 150ish mph in the 1/4(122ish in the 1/8), you will be able hit the 9.0's with a possible 8.9 in the cards. Won't be easy, but will be doable!

Running a shinko with 15 to 20 psi

Launching at 5k. Thanks for the words. Hopefully i can get back to the track this week.

Do you happen to have another tire you can slap on before you have it dyno tuned? The Shinko will hurt your hp on the dyno(by 5-10).
As to the pressure, have you run more? Do you have problems spinning? I would not run less than 20psi unless i was having an issue with spinning. Then i'd drop in 2psi increments til the spinning stopped. If 20 is good, i'd up it til it spun(again, in 2psi increments).

I dont have another tire. Just hope the before and after makes a difference. The starter said I was spinning so I lowered the pressure.

Next month I am going to a school at MIR and hopefully will pick up a bit. Is it possible to hit 8's with my mods, weight and only 3 inches over?
