Afghanistan....

WW2 strategies will be very effective, however civility will not allow it. If a nation knows they face either mass suicide, or surrender, they will surrender. The minority who prevails, will be eliminated by the majority. What happened to Japan is a prime example.

Will be interesting to see what the future holds.
I wasn't eluding to the Afghans using WW2 tactics but rather weapons...

It wasn't until the US got involved and supplied the Mujahedeen with weaponry that the Afghans got more of the upper hand against the Soviet Union forces...they were given a good number of hand held Stinger anti-aircraft missiles of which they used for everything...including anti-tank...

If anyone ever thought about how hard it is to secure an airport, it is a daunting task and not for the faint of heart...there is a lot of real estate to try and defend...

Add in a choke point of people trying to get in and you have a recipe for disaster....sadly there is very little that can be done to protect the troops who are necessary to vet the people trying to enter...

This is a terrorists playground and a defender's nightmare...

You misread my post, totally.

And now we have 12 dead from 2 terrorist attacks and Biden vowing retaliation.

*sigh*
Its the same thing... SSDD... create a problem, wait for the reaction, then offer a solution...
War is big business... this is what the left does with few exceptions.

The story of how we got here is simply a story... this is what these people that run this operation do.

Ok umm I hate to review history here but um the Republicans have usually been the ones to enter us into conflicts. Including this one. There is just a fundamental difference in the ways they pick the tactics used. Republicans got us here and convinced us it was worth more than a decade of resources and lives to fight the enemy that currently just rolled back into town.

They were by and large defeated twice, first by Bush and next by Trump. Unfortunately the clean up crew managed to eff it up both times.

I can understand why you have the opinion you do. Unfortunately both sides have the same objective... feed those MIC contributors just like Biden did with Buffet... shut down the pipeline and use my rail cars to haul oil... again... its SSDD over and over... pay to play... peddle influence and money and get results.

Biden is a pure puppet... probably the most pure puppet in my lifetime.

Wanna add the civil war??

The US ensures there is NATO buy in before they engage into any conflicts...once NATO gives the green light this allows other nations to engage as well.

Afghanistan was not a solely USA conflict, many other nations sent their sons and daughters into harm's way and lost a few of them and had many more wounded and injured in the process.

Now that the war fighting phase is over, it has turned into a huge rescue mission. There are aircraft from all over the world along with coalition troops doing their best to get people out. I personally think their appetite to get the number of people out was a little too big.

To add to this debacle, the Taliban have very quickly overthrown the Afghan leadership and ISIS-K who were for the most part suppressed by the previous government has popped it's head up at the smell of all these soft targets...it must be like a dream for them.

We are watching Afghanistan fall into the realm of a "failed state" and it soon be in the rear view mirror much like Somalia is....that conflict was similar to what took place in Afghanistan only it was much shorter in duration....Somalia was a disaster before and nothing has changed, much like Afghanistan will be.

I've never observed the US go into any conflicts during the previous administration...all the conflicts were ongoing were they not?
You are kidding right?

Ever heard about a guy named Qasem Soleimani?

Ever heard about Trump cancelling the Iran deal?

You will probably reply with Trump never started a new war, which is correct, but don’t talk about conflict or ever asking the United Nations for any kind of permission. In fact, he threatened to abandon them.

Sorry I forgot, you are Canadian a country who is committed to the guidance from the United Nations, who in turn is guided by the USA.

Let’s stop blaming Biden’s exit of Afghanistan, the United Nations made the decision to end the war.

LOL
