I'd imagine there are issues but unless you are going to commit to a war, what can be done? And yet we take no issue with our Allie KSA doing public beheadings.
Stop selling them arms?I'd imagine there are issues but unless you are going to commit to a war, what can be done?
Governments place sanctions and embargoes on these places so why do they continue to sell them arms..??Stop selling them arms?
Why Biden White House Lifted Arms Sales Freeze To UAE, KSA - Breaking Defense
"The U.S. continues to systematically state its commitment to the defense of Saudi Arabia so I don't think arms transfers in general will completely stop," Yasmine Farouk, Middle East expert at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, says.breakingdefense.com
Apparently kidnappers being punished. This is one of the reasons we fought these guys...
I've often said to introduce video games and porn to them and they'd never leave their houses...Apparently kidnappers being punished.
The challenge is the average Afghan does not identify with our values. Offer them one of our prisons with free food and lodging, they would probably volunteer.
Since I am not into either of those, I would have no idea.I've often said to introduce video games and porn to them and they'd never leave their houses...
Yep it's interesting..interesting view from Bolton advisor to W H Bush
Taliban victory increases risk terrorists will seize Pakistan and its nuclear weapons, John Bolton says
John Bolton was a military advisor to President George W Bush when the decision to invade Afghanistan was taken.www.channel4.com
Taliban allowing opium production back up to 2004 levelsYep it's interesting..
However, the Taliban ruled Afghanistan since the Soviet Union withdrew and yet in the 20 odd yrs they ruled, the threat to Pakistan never escalated. I do know there are strong ties to the Taliban in Pakistan and the Taliban had many sanctuary communities in Pakistan and launched strikes against the NATO coalition from Pakistan.
China has already been coddling up to the Taliban leadership probably sniffing around for the Lithium deposits and as the Taliban are going to need money to maintain their hold on Afghanistan, we will see Chinese companies launching mining operations in the near future.
Will the Taliban gain control of Pakistan and their nukes....highly improbable.
I think we'll see Afghanistan joining the growing list of failed states....it has all the properties to become one.Interestingly I don't disagree with Bolton's positions. It's a rational point of view based on his worldview. But being in Afghanistan is not like being in Germany or Japan. Those countries have thriving governments and economies so they aren't a perpetual charity case. No civil wars, human rights issues, tribal conflicts, or completely lackadaisical attitude toward becoming a modern country. So the money we spend in Germany and Japan goes almost totally to our defense strategy. Afghanistan is a money pit anyway you cut it, and it should not be lost that with the current administration's focus on investment right here at home, we don't have that kind of money to piss away.
I also think the Bolton generation is a bit paranoid relative to Muslim peoples. The "Kill America" mindset was primarily driven by a couple of leaders (the Blind Sheik & Osama), and that died away with them. Now the primary fight has shifted to Europe and is based on immigration tensions and defending their cultural sovereignty from western influence. Not small issues by any means but not exactly our (US) problems.
Bolton never saw a problem he didn't want to shoot at and he was not looked at in favor by either the Bush or Trump administrations even while he held positions in their camp. Still, even a broken clock is right twice a day, but here Bolton is neither right nor wrong IMHO.
As the Taliban get more and more desperate, the Chinese and Pakistan governments will seize that opportunity to push their agendas...I heard thst China are already working within Afghanistan , Lithium deposits and other
China are asking Taliban to help fight against China Uighur sympathetic enemies
already imploding ISIS-K now taking on the Taliban in some quite nasty suicide bombings in mosquesAs the Taliban get more and more desperate, the Chinese and Pakistan governments will seize that opportunity to push their agendas...
I can see Afghanistan turning into a Somalia style failed state in the future..
Certainly a turn of events, a terrorist group attacking a terrorist group playing governing body....and one screaming for the country's funds to be released (good luck with that one...).already imploding ISIS-K now taking on the Taliban in some quite nasty suicide bombings in mosques
