It is a relief to know that he was stable enough for the surgery. I know it's over now and he should be back in his room.I called just before 12:30 to see f I could pop in to see him. He was getting prepared for surgery. Should take between 4 to 5 hours for the operation. I'll try to see him tonight.
James, I hope your surgery goes well and you get to have all that other crap taken off your body soon. I hate to see you hooked up to so many machines and knowing you are in pain. I'll give you sponge bath when you get out...
I'm so glad there are folks that are close enough to visit him. I wish I could just drop in but I can't. Maybe one night this week. Hopefully he will be awake to chat a bit.
Sponge bath! I'm sure that will get his heart rate up! He may just milk that for all it's worth? Go Cherie!!!

I saw James for a few minutes tonight. The clamp thingy attached to his leg with the sand bags holding it straight is gone... that thing just looked painful. Surgery went really well. Tonight, they had his bed tilted so, his feet were still swollen but his hands and especially his face looked really good. His eyes aren't nearly as bad as 2 days ago.
When I left about 1/4 til 9, the respritory therapist was taking the breathing tube out. They were going to monitor him for a few hours to see how he did without it in. The therapist seems hopeful he'll do just fine without it but the nurse was sure to tell me not to be worried if I saw him tomorrow and the tube was back in. If he does well without the breathing tube, they will slowly take him off the drugs to wake him up a bit. The brain monitor is still in. They will monitor the pressure as he wakes and becomes more aware and then if the pressure stays stable, they'll remove that. All part of the waiting game.
As I left I was told that I'll see a totally different person tomorrow when I visit. There are a few people going to see him throughout the day tomorrow. Hopefully he is awake enough to recognize everyone and possibly respond.
The good news just continues!!!

Otherwise if you wish to know what I look like, I posted up a recent pic of me on my profile. I was nice and put up a decent pic of me, on the other forum... I'm not as nice, I get in trouble for the pics I post up as I try to test how far the mods will let me go.

Great news, he's responding! He didn't open his eyes for me but did everything else asked of him.
He squeezed my hand, a bit too hard and didn't want to let go when I had to leave to get back to work. He wiggled his toes for me. When I left I told him if he wanted a kiss on the forehead that he needed to turn his head toward me so I could reach him... he did as asked. As I kissed him I whispered for him to blow me a kiss and to put his lips together, he complied. I left being a happy camper!
