This is good news indeed. I am so proud of the ORG...proud to be a member here and proud that I can help others through the ORG. Proud also to know that should anything happen to me - I will be in good hands...

Hello everyone... James had quite a few visitors yesterday and he seemed to have been in good spirits. Today on the other hand, James wasn't doing too good. Clammy, sweaty, a slight fever, and non-responsive to about 95% of things asked of him. A neuro doc came in while I was there this morning... a CT scan had been ordered earlier in the morning but after her analysis of him, she bumped it up to a priority scan. I am worried and quite concerned that what I have feared for about the past week might become reality and be confirmed when I visit tonight. He has uneven and almost non reactive pupils and his eyes did not follow the docs finger or light. When they had him smile/grit his teeth... the right side of his face had absolutley no movement at all. I promise to update you guys when and if I learn anything about the CT scan tonight. Please continue to send your prayers for James.

Thanks for the update Cheri. Lets hope he is just having a off day and that his test show that nothing is wrong.

Mike

Hoping for the best!

Does anyone know how fast he was going, approx, when he hit the car??

My grandfather fell and bumped his head HARD against tarmac and went into something similar. Neuro-Surgical procedures to remove blood from the brain and relieve pressure on it. Pressure would still build up due to internal bleeding etc. and therefore they fitted a drain tube.

Some days he was fine and others he was completely out of it...went on for a while until the internal injuries healed and the drain tube was removed finally. He was back to normal after that.

I understand people being concerned about who I am. Feel free to contact MJN, Scootergirl, BABUSA, Truwrecks. They all know me and was just on a 3 day ride with the first 3 along with James. If any questions feel free to PM me I'll give you my number and we can talk.
Oh and I forgot Neeley, Frisbee and there others sorry I'm bad with names.

Mike is a close friend of BV's and is diffenetly a trusted friend .

Thanks for everyones support ! This is a real family we have here ! It's great to hear how much others care for someone they don't know. BV is a hell of a guy , I only wish there was more I could do . I would also like to know if he is up to me coming to see him around the end of the week.

James was a bit out of it tonight. He was slower to respond, but he still managed to take the feeding tube almost out of his nose. He has to pass the swallow test first (keep your dirty thought to yourself! ) I'm pretty sure he's just feeling pretty wiped out.

I talked to the nurse for a while tonight. She's a hottie! Kind of the "Girl next door" kind of looker. James has a lot to help him keep his eyes open. She said his CT didn't show any changes from the last one (that was on the 6th), so chances are that he is still healing well. I expressed that I had a few concerns, and she told me that the staff is keeping an eye on James for infecton, stroke and discomfort. Cherie and Doug (yes another one ) to visit with James. He was able to recognize himself in a picture, but he though it was taken last year. The picture was from the Oregon ride this summer. He was taking a lot of time to answer any questions. The swelling around his right eye is almost gone. He had his eye open about 60%-70% tonight.

He still looks like he's on the road to recovery. He just taking to bumpy route.

Tomorrow is going to be Puppy Reunion day, between 4 and 5PM on the West ground floor terrace (above the parking garage, in the grassy area). Eric is going to bring the puppies, and I'll bring James. I think Eric has the tough part. James will enjoy the ride more than the bulls.

Thanks to everyone who is helping...You're all good family.

Great guy!

I saw James yesterday! It was a good visit and he talked to me. I'll tell you more later - I'm late for work!!!

OK - I'm at work now. I arrived yesterday afternoon around 5:15 and James was asleep after his CT. The nurse (yes - she's cute) came in and filled me in on his day and put his dinner on the hanger. He opened his eyes and looked at me. I told her I didn't know if would know who I was and he started to get a bit aggitated and whispered something. So I grabbed his hand and leaned down to listen and he said (clear as a bell) "I know who you are" - and he smiled.(crooked smile) He moved his left arm around a lot like he was uncomfortable and tried to scratch his face, so I rubbed his face where he was trying to scratch and he would close his eyes while I did that. If I stopped he would open them right back up. I talked to him about his dogs and our trip we took this summer. Steve (tufbusa) called while I was there and I held the phone up so he could talk to James. He appeared to be listening intently. I brought more pics to hang on the board and held them all up for him to see and he seemed to really like the one of him and Rich (BA BUSA).

When it was time for me to leave I was holding his hands and told him how happy I was that I got to see him and he said "I'm happy too" again - clear as a bell. I leaned down to kiss him on the cheek and he turned his head and kissed me back!!!! I asked him if it was ok for me to come and visit again and he said YES!

Like Cherie said, he is not responding on his right side. That is concerning and I'm anxious to hear more about that.

Puppy update.

James is in surgery now. He'll be ready for visitors again aroung 6PM. I'll be there at 6 to help get him ready for the bulls. Eric will be there sometime around 6:45 or 7, with the dogs. I can't wait to see his reaction!

Yes, we'll have a few cameras on hand.
