Carpenter Racing 1441 kit for Gen 3

Here is my plan B..

I don't have the dyno sheet on hand. But my tuner who lives in Florida and I live in Nashville should have it saved on his computer. I will check with him. I always take my motorcycles to FL to get tuned.I will keep you posted

I think the point tuco and 01 are making is if they redesigned the motor, it would be a new base to start with, with more potential. Engine characteristics change based on how you get your cc number. Busa is limited, after a certain point u have to stroke them (more money, less reliable) to keep going bigger. Change the bore space and you can get to 1500cc Or bigger with a piston change only.

But really That only benefits a small niche of people that are already supported by huge aftermarket options so I’d bet it wasn’t worth the roi to design a whole new engine.

I think they should’ve added a turbo to it. New Electronics can support that, and it’ll rule the dyno wars.

Bingo and I completely agree!

Combined with the world economy going the way it is and bouncing back from COVID B.S….no chance Suzuki would sell a $30-35k bike in the US market which would mean $40-45k globally. That’s mid-level Ducati money that research tells them people aren’t spending on a Suzuki!

Majority of motorcycle riders are cheap anyway. They want a 400lb Turbo Busa will all the goodies that makes 300hp stock and costs $10,000.

Once CLEAN used Gen-1/2’s get harder and harder to find and other bikes are no longer available to purchase new, you won’t have many choices in this category.

100%
And I thought I was the only one who thought that.
I think the gen2 is the better visually balanced.
To me, the gen3 is to front heavy, visually. It’s all bulk at the front and the tail just doesn’t balance out.
But that’s my opinion
I thought that initially also but after having them both here side by side and comparing them over and over for the last year and a half, I much prefer the Gen-3...

My world is about twisties. I don't live in a flat part of the world. For looks, I much prefer the Gen 1 and gen 3. And on a twisty road, you'll be passing cars much easier on a Hayabusa then you will on the ZX-14. I don't have a lot of miles on it, yet, but I am loving my gen 3. It feels like the Gen 1 once I got a pipe on it and tweaked the fuel map with a power commander (III AFAIR) - I called it 'sooner' power. It's what a lot of manufacturers are doing, tuning for torque.
The psychology of status and bragging rights is interesting, but I really think the debate boils down to age demographics for the market. Yeah it was cool to own the king of the beasts 22 years ago, but now I don't care as much. The ego shrinks with age and the honesty gets a bump up with experience. When the bikes are faster than I am, I simply don't care about performance as much. But of course that wouldn't be me when I was 22. And I'm mixed on the carpenter kit. Part of me thinks it would just be riding a machine where the torque was fighting against the electronics in a perpetual war for back tire traction. It would also take some time to not be nervous about reliability when I'm a thousand miles from home. And I was a deprived child who didn't get dirt bike experience, ever really. So my skill level isn't high enough to do controlled power slides out of a turn at speed. I wish it was, but it's just not. IF it was I'd have to seriously consider the carpenter kit...

Woop! This thread exploded. Taking from a street setup that's excluding lowering and stretching the bike my gen1 had 300hp via turbo and she was hella hard to keep the wheel down in the first 3 gears. I would be happy with NA 250hp range as far as having a boss that can turn and stop correctly when needed. I will have to let time continue with the development goes with the gen3. I don't want to loose ABS as it already saved my ass so if we get any form of aftermarket ECU support I want ABS and QS for damn sure.

I agree with a lot of tuco’s points but passion don’t equal sales, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel when the wheel is still getting it done. If someone makes a bike to compete, or if the economy starts booming like it was back then during the bike wars, then maybe we’ll get something. The bore spacing has been a issue since day one gen one Busa. So it’s not like they dont know lol they choose to keep it that way. Probably based on h2 sales, zx14 sales, and previous Busa sales and economy.

250hp would make the enthusiasts happy but they wouldn’t be flying outta the dealerships

We do what we can lol

Ya the price hikes is not just adding some new tech but the failure of the currency and trading taxes. I'm sorry I paid 10k for my 2005 Busa and 17k for my 2022. Am I happy to have all the goodies? Yes, is it worth an additional 7k? No....

It’s less than that considering inflation and the DA politician’s policies.

But according to the bean counters, $81MILLION voted for this garbage so I hope they enjoy it and get everything they hoped for before it completely implodes…
