I get off for perceived safety factors. Static electricity and possible fire for whatever I wanna be able to skedaddle ifn I haf ta!

Sit. I usually fill up on the way out. Besides I believe the owners manual shows an illustration of the side view with a level tank filling up to the bottow of the filler neck. They don't show an illustration from the front or rear with with bike tilted, showing the fuel hitting the side of the filler neck:laugh:

So...

Sit on it Potsy:rofl:

So now somebody needs to ride 150 miles, stop and fill up while still on bike and see how much they can get in and do same thing while off and it's in kickstand. I'd like to see what the actual diff is.

Or...they can fill it while sitting on it with the stand down then stand the bike up and see how much more it takes. :poke:

Then we need a volunteer to fill it while sitting up then put it on its stand and measure how much spills on the ground.

I try to swipe my card in as few places as possible so I get off to pay anyway I am on the kick stand.

I just fill up while on the bike, set my gloves on the gauges and swipe card. If I been riding for a while I'll pull up to the store after filling up and walk around the store buy a drink etc.

I never get off my bike to fill up... But a precautionary tale - I was filling up in a tiny country roadside gas stop in Meadows of Dan just off the Blue Ridge Parkway on my HD Softail Deluxe - Guess what? the pump auto shut off failed and before in knew it I had gas pouring down the tank into my seat and on to the top of my oven like aircooled engine. Nothing happened as it was a cool wet day, but I suppose that could have been a disaster if the engine was hot enough to touch off the fuel. My pants and the bike would have lit up.

I still sit on the bike when filling but I do pay attention now and never expect the auto cutoff to work...

We always have the support truck follow the group.

I fill it sitting on it and drop the kickstand. I pull up drop the kickstand set the bike on the stand while I reach for my wallet and get my card out and swipe.. I stand it back up when i fill it.. after filling I set the nozzle on top of the pump then pull forward so my wife can fill up. then I get off if I want to and walk around.. thats just me.

I sit on the bike, though I couldn't really tell ya why. Its probably more that I'm too lazy to get off the bike than anything else!

and free up the pump for others

I stay on the Busa if at all possible to maximize my poser-time...pretty sure I look amazingly cool while doing this.

If I'm out on a group ride, I try to fill mine up all the way, so I'm not going to be the first person to get low on gass...
