I've always sit on my bike as I fill it. I get off the bike and stretch after I fill up while I wait on everyone else to get gas. I'm always first a the gas station because I ride the mighty hayabusa:laugh:

Well--call me stupid--but the thought of sitting on the bike with that gas tank between my legs--pumping explosive fuel over the top of a hot engine--well--it scares the day lights out of me. if anything goes wrong I want to get out of there ASAP! Besides--the thought of gas fumes rolling around my body is not a pretty thought! yep--I'm just a little crazy that way!!! LOL :firedevil:

Somehow I think that if your bike blows up while fueling, sitting on it or standing next to it holding the pump hose isn't going to make much difference.

I hate stoppin' at gas stations on the bike so usually fill up a 5 gal. jug the day before i plan on ridin' and top off the bike here in the garage(and since my excursions usually amount to less than a 150 miles at a time i'm pretty much good to go).

Sooooooo

Has anyone done a simple test thru two tanks to see which way allows you to get more in?
I'm curious about this?
Off bike on kickstand I get just over 4 gallons in which lets me go 160 miles approx before light comes on.
I wonder how much more I can get in by sitting on it? With a 5.5 gal tank I'm wondering if I'm always a gallon short or not due to leaning while filling?

No, I have a life... :hide:

Always get off, stretch a leg or two and fill'r up :)

Plus... there's always an element of danger when filling in gas, such as a static discharge somewhere and a spark poof burn.
So I rather stand beside it in case (but lets hope it never happens) :please:

There needs to be refill trucks riding out in the highway that we can pull up behind, they lower a boom to our tank and fill us up while we're still in motion.

like peeing, i stand like a man and cup my hand around the tank reservoir to avoid splatter.
