EV vehicles

The topic of EVs and their future in society is arguable. I see alot of examples of EVs performing perfectly and some of the attitudes in this discussion are fanatical IMO. I shoot from the hip; don't care about political parties (sorry to step on your joke).
Heck I owned two Mkz Hybrids. One of the best cars I ever owned. Loved the mpgs. I’ll repeat myself again. I’m not anti ev. I’m anti govt telling me I have to buy one. Let the market and people decide for themselves. Make ICE and make EV vehicles and let people choose for themself. To me it’s no different than them trying to force me to get the jabb. The more they push the more folks will resist.

Great truth in this, we members on a gas powered motorcycle forum will have zero bearing the influx of EV being introduced to the masses...

That tech is on it's way whether we agree or like it or not....
So true. I almost bought an EV and bought a gas guzzling Mercedes hot rod instead lol. I have been looking at electric scooters as they keep improving and the price slowly drops.

In all honesty, for all the driving/riding I do, an EV kinda/sorta makes sense for a guy like me........however.......and it's a big however.......I like the sound of my V-8 and Hayabusa.....

I get the performance aspect as well....I've seen the difference in RC cars, one nitro and the other EV, the EV will wipe the floor with the nitro car...

I think it makes sense for about 75 or 80% of people. The rest have to have better range and quicker charge. I believe it’s coming.

A friend of mine took a trip to our east coast (around 3200 km round trip) with his EV....he had no problem finding charging stations although many of them were in Walmart parking lots so there were no services with them such as windshield cleaners and such...

He got horrible range and had to stop a lot...he made the trip last summer with his ICE and said it took him twice as long and then some with his EV...

He got kind of desperate once and found a charger but it was in a strip mall and all the stores were closed (6pm)..of course everyone had to go to the bathroom and there was nothing around them...he said it took 3 hrs to charge so that was tough...they were a couple hours from the hotel.

The hotel had 5 chargers and all of them were occupied, there were chargers a couple blocks away so he parked there and walked to the hotel to let it charge for the night...when he came back he had a ticket because there was a sign saying 3 hrs only.....

They made it to their destination (their parents house) and they had no charger so he used the 110 outlet...it took forever to charge it so they used his parents car while they were there to let it charge...

On his way home they were close to needing a charge but got caught in traffic and he made it to a charging station with almost no charge left...they were panicking....it took 6 hrs to charge and there wasn't much to do where the charger was located....and it was deep in a French only speaking area..

Needless to say, he was very glad to get home and they have an ICE car as well but it is a small car but he said if he travels, he would take it and be crammed in there over going through that again....His EV is an extended range model but he figures that range is calculated on a calm day with no load and a flat surface.... as he got nowhere near the range advertised and never did.

Trivial issues Bee. Come on man. Alternative facts win't cut it in your thread.

Meanwhile in related news.

At least there's a little forward thinking by Ford...the other companies need to start working towards standardization if they want EV to succeed.

Ford Will Integrate Tesla's Charging Ports Into New EVs

Another interesting bit from Ford....

They are issuing a recall but can fix the problem via "over the air."

I've read over the air controls will be the norm for EV.....they can control the entire platform "over the air"

Thousands of Ford Mustang Mach-E EVs Could Be Re-Recalled over Battery

I've seen this place. Now the reality of it for the rest of the green energy fans.

Thousands of Old Wind Turbine Blades Pile Up in West Texas
Part of this problem is because the state of Texas tries to keep things too cheap (read business friendly). They still use the old thinking of "We have plenty of land we aren't using, let's collect a fee for using it". Thinking like the 50s. And they just counted the $ and thought they were brilliant.

So they'd cut a deal for things like this. Never planning on oversight. What can go wrong out in the middle of nowhere?

Then Texas started pulling in people because of cheap land etc. And the middle of nowheres started becoming harder and harder to find.

Now they have these massive problems.

Another Democratic failure

Can’t fill orders. Batteries froze in Alaska. Melted and caught fire in home state of California.
Democrat cronies got rich and sold stock before it crashed. They milked the country and walked away.

Sort of reminiscent of the Obama boondoggles during that scam on America. Biden is just repeating what he already did before.

Obama’s Green New Deal was a billion-dollar bust

This time around we just add some commas and zeros.

I was in New Orleans this past week. Just a quick business thing.

The subject of EVs came up. Hadn't thought of this part. Because I don't live in that reality.

Many high density living residents don't have garages. They have to park either on the street or in a "driveway" that is off street but simply a parking spot they own. Then I got to thinking about that. Seattle housing living. On street parking. Or paid parking facilities. No garages. Chicago. Same way. I'm guessing most densely populated cities are similar.

No way to charge your car at your house. I spose if you could get enough extension chord you could.

But we all know that chord would be ripped off for the copper value.
