For those of you who pray...

Man I'm sorry to hear this... My girl friend just overcomed cancer and still not sure if its fully out of her body yet. But I also wish you and your family the best. I dont have a daughter but when or if I do I would want nothing but the best for her and I feel your pain. Your daughter will be in my prayers and I wish nothing but the best for her. I dont know you personally but I cant express how bad I would feel if it was one of my own. But Miracles happen faster than a blink of an eye so just pray for the best. God Bless
James

I'm starting to feel bad about posting so much on this thread. I'm sure that some of you are getting a little tired of seeing it pop up, but your prayers and good wishes are greatly appreciated just the same.

Some concerning news today. The doctors are starting Kristen on chemotherepy. No, she doesn't have cancer. The reasons are very complicated, but the risks and side effects are the same. Nausia, weakness and risk of hair loss. Needless to say, it's worrisome. Supposedly the chemo will give the normal treatment a turbo-boost and imrovement should be dramatic afterwards.

Kristen's keeping a positive attitude. I'm proud of her. She's been in the hospital since Jan. 7.
Man, personally I wouldn't have it any other way! In fact I'm about to post up and ask Captain to make it a sticky until she pulls through and gets to come home! Please, PLEASE don't slack off on posting up the progress reports and any needs you guys have. Personally, I'd do anything within my power to help you out with whatever you need.

And a note to Kristen... Just keep that chin up girl. We're all still praying for you and standing beside you in our thoughts. Anything you need, you tell Dad and if it's something we can do, it's DONE. I'm sending yet another prayer up for you this morning. Stay strong and positive and this will all pass before you know it.

Hey Bob, keep us posted man. Hoping for more good news soon.

Hey everybody,

I'm back home now.  Yesterday was a bad day for Kristen.  She apparently had an infection in one of her semi-permanent transfusion ports.  She had a high fever and wasn't feeling well at all.  Her numbers plummeted.  Platelets went down to 81,000 from her high of 120,000 the day before.  She was majorly bummed.

The doctors said that the drop was due mostly to the infection.  The port has been removed and antibiotics administered.  Today she was feeling much better.  She and I worked together on an art project she is doing for the pediatric floor.

I had to leave her today at about 1:00 PM after having spent three days there.  Her mother will be there tomorrow and I'll be back up on Sunday.

I'll tell ya, it's a real roller-coaster ride.  With this infection under control, I know her numbers will be improving again tomorrow.

Here's a pic from last weekend of Kristen and her boyfriend working on her art project in her hospital room.

Oh, BTW, thanks to BT for suggesting it and to whom ever is responsible for keeping this thread at the top (Captain?)!

This is just a minor set-back, Kristen (and Bob). Once the infection is gone we'll quickly be back on the road to recovery. Just keep the faith!

Thanks for the pic. It's nice to put a face with the prayers. Also good to see her busy doing something like this to keep her mind positive. Nothing is worse than an idle mind in times like this.

Oh, and tell that boy he'd better be good to our girl. He does NOT want the entire h.org community on the hunt for his hide!

Thanks for the update Bob. Just keep us posted man. And continue to let Kristen know we're here for her... If you need anything just let us know, man.

Chris,

Oh, don't worry, the "boy" was definitely put on notice last weekend. It was like a scene out of "Meet the Parents".
biggrin.gif
Really, he's a god kid. The first one of her boyfriends that I have actually liked.

Many have asked if there is anything they can do to help. Prayers are always appreciated. They work miracles! But, if you want to go beyond that, I might suggest that you go to your local blood bank and give some blood. Kristen is getting DAILY blood transfusions at the rate of one and a half times her total blood volume. Every two days she needs the equivalent of all of the blood from three people! Your blood donation won't go directly to Kristen, of course, but it will add to the total supply and thereby benefit many in need. If you do give some blood, I'll let Kristen know that you did. Just post up that you gave.

So many have asked, so here's a way to make a big difference.

Now, let's talk about your kidneys............

Good to hear they found and are controlling the infection. Prayers going up for Kristen. Thanks for the pic, as Bt says its good to put a face with the prayer. Keep the updates coming and know that I donate blood as much as I possibly can. Never enough when it is needed.

As long as he knows his roll, and the consequences of hurtin' our girl, maybe he'll be ok.

As for giving blood, I've never done it. But I'll look into it now. Never really thought about it so I don't know where to go, but I'm sure I can find out easy enough. Even though it won't go directly to Kristen, maybe it will help someone else's daughter, or son, or mother or father, or.......

Oh yeah Bob, I have even put the pic up as my desktop wallpaper so I am reminded to pray for and think of her every time I see my desktop. We're going to pull her through this no matter what it takes.

For those who would consider it, try contacting your local Red Cross or hospital. I'm sure they can point you in the right direction.

Giving blood is easy and painless. It also does so much good for others.

Kristen's type is O+, BTW.

I put your request on my Christian motorcycle board . We will prayfor her .

Hey everyone. Thanks for your continued prayers and support. Although Kristen's numbers haven't improved in the past few days, your prayers are keeping her strong! I am amazed at this girl's attitude. It's excellent!

Treatments aren't yielding the results we're looking for, so the doctors may start another from of chemo later in the week. This is one baffling decease.

She's got her own private room now, so that makes her happy. Today was day #23 in the hospital. Can't speculate on her release date any more. Every time I do something happens. We're taking it one day at a time.

Take care everyone.
