All gas is the same unless you live within 100 miles or so of the refinery that makes the brand you want. Any farther you are getting pool gas. All the makers pump the gas in to a shared pipeline. At the rack (where gas is pumped into the truck) they mix the recipe for the brand (shell) Nitrogen (BS:laugh:) then taken to the gas station. I have ran ARCO/BP in all my Bikes (GSXR,RD,FJ,CBR,BMW,BUSA,TLR) with no problems what so ever. As most of you know RM octane (Research Method) relates to compress-ability of the the gas or Resistance to detonation. Higher Compression higher Octane also most dont know say an original Triumph Bonneville requires 91 to 99 here in Phoenix because of the poor combustion chamber design and the heat. Heat and Lack of combustion chamber technology can cause substantially higher octane then most think. Yawn enuff lecturing for tonight.

I am sorry,:poke:

I use Shell V Power 91 octane.

My manual (2006) calls for at least 87 octane, or higher..

I find that the premium gasolines have more and better cleaning additives than the regular gasolines.
It only cost me about $1.50 more per fill up for the premium, so I go for it.

Ok this is from the FACTORY service man. And I quote....

Use only unleaded gasoline of at least 87 pump octane (R/2 + M/2) or 91 octane or higher rated by the research Method.

Gasoline containing MTBE ( Menthyl Tertiary Butyl Ether ), less than 10% ethanol, or less than 5% methanol with appropriate cosolvents and corrosion inhibitor is pemissible.

Gasoline used should be graded 91 octane or higher. An unleaded gasoline is recommended.

Unquote......

Thank you, I thought so.

Hi bro!

i live by the airport, think airplane gas would make me fly!
i use around 87, sometimes my choices are 85 87 91, so i run midgrade. does me just fine.
i filled up at a BP station once, will never ever do it again. green pump handles are for diesel only!

Wow, particular about your fuel octane, huh? Still don't think it matters that much. To each his own...

I've been experimenting with 91,95 and 98 RON fuel. To be honest, I can't tell the difference. The Busa's engine makes so much power that I doubt the different octanes really have much of an effect.
