Just think how much better she would run on 87 ??? ...AND save you some $$$

My '03 has...Akro EVO pipe, PCIIIR w/custom map, TRE, Small Box mod, BMC race filter...runs GREAT on 87

Hmmmm... no telling you know with bikes its strange how they run different sometimes. My bike was tuned with 93 and I wouldn't have thought that 87 would have made any difference but it sure didn't run good. I always ran 93 and it always ran awesome. Sure do love the sound of that akro also

Switched from 91 to 87 since joining this forum...
Still need another year or 2 of riding before I can use all the savings for my Pazzo levers...:cheerleader:

Actually 187 pc is the California Penal Code section for murder, I was recently in a max security Cali prison and noticed a couple white supremists with "187" tatts (swell fellas).

that's what the song is about, it's from a movie, and they're saying "187 on an undercover cop".

Hmm, I only know that line from the Sublime song. And in that one it says "screamin 1-8-7 on a mother ****in cop"

Oh, and I run C12 on the street, although it doesn't really like it much. VP MRX01 or CMP at the track, which makes 12rwhp more than C16. A little different than stock though haha.

I guess I need to read the manual more closely. I took it for granted that the bike took 92+ and that is all I have run in it the 8 years I have had her. After reading this thread the bike got its first tank of 87 yesterday and the initial ride around I felt no difference. I think she will be fine and will run fuel cleaner through her every few thousand miles.

Ran a couple of tanks of higher octane through her when I first got her to help clean her out some. She sat for a little while befroe I bought it. Now run 87.

I was running 93 oct.. mainly because it has a different odor when it's burned.. but now I'm just saving money and running 87.

Will a gallon of race gas mixed with 87 hurt our bikes? I was thinking of adding a gallon on my next fillup to show the girl friend what race gas smells like. She thought I was nuts when I smelled a hopped up camero before we came up on it.

It's all the same gas, it's just that 93 Octane has been refine more to get rid of the particles that are bad for your engine and slowly tearing it down. If you were running race fuel, 103 octane or higher, I would consider getting your bike tuned for it, but the difference between 87 and 93 is so small, I wouldn't worry about it. And if it only costs $1 extra to fill up with 93, and you know that it's been refine more, than why not... I'm not that tight.

Oh boy here we go again. :O 87 for a stock or slightly mod Busa is fine and runs great. High comp, built, or Turbo use high octane. racing that Turbo use 110-116.

Coming from a ZX-14, 33 MPG (or less) and requiring premium, I am enjoying 87 octane and 40 plus MPG. Yeah Busa !

87 always..now for those who don't know the mid grade is actually a mixture of high grade and low...they don't actually make 3 grades at the depot, they mix the 2 when they put it in the ground at the station...my brother works for a gasoline co here

I use Shell V Power 91 octane.

My manual (2006) calls for at least 87 octane, or higher..

I find that the premium gasolines have more and better cleaning additives than the regular gasolines.
It only cost me about $1.50 more per fill up for the premium, so I go for it.

Ditto. or Petro Canada.... superclean

All Petro-Canada branded gasolines contain Tactrolâ„¢, a proprietary deposit control additive, sometimes called a gasoline detergent, that is designed to keep fuel systems clean.

Petro-Canada has supplied Canadians with high-quality fuels that meet their driving needs for many years. This track record, and the fact that our fuels meet or exceed all Canadian standards, has resulted in our customers’ confidence in the quality of our fuels. To confirm the high standards of our fuels, Petro-Canada has decided to participate in the Top Tier program as of Oct. 1, 2006.
