Gen 3 Latest report ..

@Dancallun yes, I think so. On one of the Gen3 threads going here, there was a report of a Gen3 making 116 ft lb of torque which edges out the ZX-14R. 193 hp just 12 shy of the 14R. That was a Gen3 busa with an Akrapovich exhaust. I assume the fueling was tuned for the exhaust but a complete flash will undoubtedly adress a lot of things other than just fueling.
14R only ever made the top line power with ram air which needed 3 figure speeds and having owned 2 of them i wouldn't rate the engine compared to any Gen of Busa...sure it had power but if you got caught in the wrong gear it was gutless and needed revs...just had power higher up vs its gearing....dyno charts never show that level of detail so on the road mean very little
So your ECU is unlocked from the factory? Maybe the "gentleman's agreement" is done with?

It will be interesting if the top speed of the gen 3 will top out the '99 (194 mph) out of the box....
The speed limiter is still there I'd say but it can rev to whatever the rider wants.... That's all I meant.... Unlike the BMW situation

Right....makes sense now, I thought you meant the limiter was removed which really would have been a game changer...

The S1000RR my neighbor has doesn't have a rev limiter, he can rev it but in order for him to go in and get the factory performance flash, he has to do 1000kms...the flash is done at the first oil change.

It's funny they say break in 600 miles but look at the 10 gen 3 demo bikes all with 0 miles and they all hit the runway to do 180 ... would've been nice to have a longer runway and 6th gear unlocked...

My new bike when I get it will be driven in 1st gear halfway home. I use the Motoman break-in procedure and have consistently fast bikes. Stock faster than decked out bikes with 4 in1, pc5 all of them. 3-6k 3 times, upshift, let cool for 5 minutes while riding. Same as before except 6-9k 3 times, cool, 9- redline 3 times. The bike is 80% broke in. After, drive it like it's broke in, no babying this bike. I use regular dino oil for a least 3 more changes, then switch to pure synthetic.

For those of you that have received your Gen 3s I have a question.

Oil filter, do you need to remove all, some or none the side fairing to change the filter? It looks like you may be able to remove just the lower portion of the fairing.

they have designed the lower cowling section to be removable for direct access to the filter...just a few push pins

I wouldn't say "gutless" but yes, the busa has more power down low, at least compared to the Gen1 ZX-14. Some seem to disagree but that has been my experience. I've owned both a Gen1 ZX-14 and a Gen2 busa each for over ten years. My busa will stand up at lower rpm.

This is exactly what I did when I broke in my 1397. She was a monster. Only way I break them in.
