Gen 3 Latest report ..

Sounds like, dare I say.....a Hayabusa.....

More importantly, the exhaust looks much better and even if the weight savings aren't huge the aesthetics are...
At the risk of sounding like @jellyrug , I think the aftermarket pipes I have seen don't look as good as stock. Suzuki did a great job making the cans fit into the aesthetic of the bike and compliment the new lines. The aftermarket pipes actually look bigger than the stock, and the shape looks dated on this new motorcycle.

Of course, I would still go aftermarket for the performance. But it's time for the pipe boyz to step it up with a new design.

....and here for one of the first times we disagree on something...

I think the stock exhaust are hideous and just about anything is an improvement.

Now I will agree these stock exhaust are leaps and bounds prettier than the gen 2 cans..gen 1 had good looking stock cans..

Haha. Maybe Jelly won't see this and never know we agreed! Funny, I bet he doesn't like the Gen 3 OEM cans, haha.

Unfortunately Yoshimura and Akrapovic need to update their product range, tired looking and a tad boring.

Perhaps the Japan side of Yoshimura can produce a different looking can but even seeing the “signature” range is quite rare due to the price.

I think there's only so much you can do with an exhaust system which hasn't already been done in some form or another...

i had a demo ride today Gen3 with 400 miles on it. In North of England

here is my review

Today i test rode the Gen3 silver one.. not as nice looking as Black and Orange

I left the Suzuki sales man cogitating what mine was worth with 100k on clock , he liked my wheels brembos - but i'll tell you now offered me £1500 as trade in

annoying he would let me take my magnetic tank bag which had my datalogger
:(
, so bum dyno it is

up the A19 ..

According to suzuki york all settijngs were to 1 full power and least intrusion for launch traction etc..

Initial ride smooth and being new all quite tight , but the suspension felt soft with no bumps being felt. mine Gen2 is noticeably stiffer.

the fly by wire throttle whilst still has cables but is much easier to turn and appears to have less rotation to full throttle than mine - could be just less resistance to roll on.

pulling away in any gear low down - it does have more grunt than mine as expected so - when winding on the bike does accelerate well

to any body not used to riding a busa ... the bike will seem really fast from any given revs and any gear.
( cam retarded to give more low end / mid range)

i did like the positive Neutral .

with 430 miles on the Gen3 i did wring its neck numerous times over the 30 miles in 2nd and 3rd gear rolls on to red line. after a while i became almost used to the rush of acceleration.

the quick shifter was flawless up and down i think cut fuel and ignition - which seemed to make the bike surge after next gear engagement.

running through 1st to 4th hard it was noticeable QS good but a little laggy than my old

it seemed slower to shift than my old HM Shifter which was set to 55 msec including improved star wheel , mine only cut ignition and seemed to run through the gears with less interruption - so aftermarket up shift is better.

i'm not sure if GEN3 had the quickest setting or a default setting to save gearbox

but riding mine since modded and adding wheels. when revving out in 2nd and 3rd the acceleration is harder through the redline to 12,000

you have to remember this bike has done 100,000 miles and still races hard to cut out since JW de-restricted a testament to engine durability

in 2nd gear if i cracked the throttle as fast as i could it would lift the front

so i need to feather throttle ever so slightly - on Gen3 i could just wind on faster seemed more linear power without worry of wheel lift

mine definitely more peaky and feels i have to give a little more respect.

Conclusion: would i buy one.

if i was a newbie rider to the busa fold and came from say a VFR or similar - yes the bike will seem a big improvement and the big thing for most riders it feels really safe as almost i could take liberties

but for me i was expecting something more - why would i expect that when EURO 5 has its mitts all over it. the big seems really safe its fast but also neutered at the same time

i want something to scare the poop out of me and have to treat with some respect - so for me i'm glad going down the Big motor route - ill have more low end mid range with 10 hp more at top end - i want to be scared that the bike could kill me. Gen3 does not do it for me and i can see me being bored with it - i seemed to have moved on.

today was also the 1st real day of the year i got my Riding mojo back as over last 3 months riding i felt slow and not in unison with my bike.

looking forward to other reviews .

Did they mention adjusting it? That feel sound just like it is set to the stock compression and rebound settings, eight clicks out in the fork, etc...
i have a feeling all demo bikes are on the soft setting mirrors all the official test rides - i only had 1/2 an hour ride, the bikes was being picked up and take to another dealer at the end of the day.. UK has 300 bikes allocated 200 have already been sold and 15 demo bikes are currently doing the rounds. by end of summer some deals would be had with reduced demo bike price

You have 100k on your busa ....holy schnikes! You sir have my respect... I put 40k on gen 1 and 30k on gen 2 and I thought that was alot. Take a pic of that odometer for the org !!!

I see that bike like mine also runs cool.
curious why you feel the need to rev a busa to 12k , its already well past the peak torque so the next gear would accelerate better.....then again it likely sounds mighty.
100k miles...impressive.
took my Gen3.. 2 up today for 130 miles and found the lean angle sensor quite amusing... 5mm from the edge of the rear tyre is only 32 degrees.
As the bike settles in I can feel a need to stiffen the suspension when 2up....gets a wee bit of pogo action going on some roads.

Found a glitch with the gadgets... When cruise is active you cannot scroll through any of the odo items or alter power settings.... Your locked to cruise only... Which also gets a little confused and surgy when going down a very gentle hill.
Still overall finding the main busa dna is there.. Low revs grunt and the ability to demolish miles effortlessly yet calmly.
130miles was about 2/3 of a tank and I wasn't exactly just cruising.

So looks like mpg is better then they said just like the power maybe they have to say those things because of euro 5...

Always thought it was odd that kanji symbol was cut off on one side but they really cut the symbol off on the one side of gen 3... I liked the new symbol especially the bottom swoop and they chop it off on the one side.... come on suzuki the other gens were not as bad.
