My BMW S1K neighbor stopped by on his way to the mailbox and I was in my garage with the door open (rainy day). He looked over the Bumblebee and we talked bikes...he asked what the draw towards a Hayabusa is...I had to think for a minute...then I told him..
It does nothing excellent but everything well...you can ride it hard on backroads and hiways all day long and do some light sport touring...people take them to drag strips, road courses and on long trips. Not many bikes out there will do all of that, they are generally excellent at one thing and suck at others.
I said take your S1K for instance, it's a stellar track bike but not great at a dragstrip and you certainly wouldn't want to just hop on it and go 300 miles.
He actually agreed with me and asked to fling a leg over the busa, he said it is much roomier than his fairly roomy Beemer but much, much heavier feeling when you lift it off the side stand.
I told him that weight disappears on the road yet comes in handy on the hiway by not getting blown all over the road by oncoming cars and trucks. I rode a couple liter bikes on the hiway and would almost wince when I saw a transport coming as I knew the bike would react harshly...whereas my busa just bobbles slightly...
I told him the new busa is no different, it's heavy but will be great on the hiway and comes with all the electronic aids, the aftermarket world loves Hayabusas and this one will be no different.
Still couldn't sell him on getting a new Hayabusa though-would have been nice to have one on my street...
