GEN 3 starting issues

It happens to me more and more often, practically almost every time I turn it on hot. I noticed that the error climb symbol also appears. I also tried deactivating it but it doesn't help. Next week, appointment with the dealership in another city, because they can't solve anything in mine, I'll keep you updated. Very very embarrassing in traffic

I'm desperate, today it always did it, even with the engine off for half an hour, luckily it starts by opening the accelerator a quarter, after a few attempts, otherwise nothing. Can anyone tell me if this has ever happened with the ATX 12 battery and has it finally solved it? Thank you

Mine has done it 3 times, strangely always outside Cycle Gear! Cycling the key off and on fixes it as though it never happened. I turned hill start off before the last one. Mine doesn't do it all the time. Also curious to see if a stronger lithium battery will fix it. It seems like compression lock, so maybe more cranking amps would help????

I suffer from the MC issues, but no problem with hot starts. Even after riding all summer here in Louisiana with the hottest being 109. Most always pick up food at lunch so quick on/off and so far never an issue. Knocks on wood. It's so weird how some have this issue, others don't. Same with front MC.

I just bought a 23 and have about 125 miles on it now. This issues started for me at 40 miles. None of the previous stated resolutions have helped. There’s no rhyme or reason besides heat that causes it or not. It will crank flat over and over and then like a light switch cranks normal. I put a meter on the battery and observed 12.75v static, normal crank gets me around 11.2-11.5v and flat crank get 8-9v. That to me looks like the starter is pulling an excessive amount of amperage. I’m going to grab my battery tester and amp hook and see what it’s actually doing. I have a feeling the starter gear is binding in the case causing this issue. That’s the only thing I can think of that would cause this kind of random nature. I’ve seen videos from others showing gen 2’s with similar issues were the torque multiplier gear guide pin gets a little play in it and cause the gear to slightly tweak and bind. Either way if anyone has actually gone to the dealer and actually got help what was the resolution? I’ve always wanted a busa but now I don’t trust this thing and I’m about ready to dump it. If my dealer helps as much as others are saying this thing is gone.

When I took mine back to the dealer, they thought the battery might be bad so they put a new one in. (Bike was brand new, but 2022 model year, so battery could have been sitting for a long while). But replacing the battery alone didn't do it, they told me they then traced the wiring between the battery and the starter and found a loose connection somewhere in the chain (just had to be plugged in/seated correctly or something?), after that it appeared fine.

Done another ~1000 miles since then and have not encountered the issue again.
Note: have not put effort into explicitly reproducing the fault, just went about my days normally and haven't encountered it since.

Awesome thank you. It’s just weird that it’s only hot. I do intend on speaking with the dealer about it.

Heat causes the starter to expand and bind against the housing. When this happens it sounds like a dead battery, once it cools a bit and gets clearance it fires right up. Doesn't matter if you use engine cut off or key. Had it happen first time on Friday, tried multiple times to start, turns over lazily once and dies.... waited 30 secs, turned over perfectly.

Finally, as advised by Suzuki Italia, (it seems that only I have this problem!!!I loaded the latest software of the original ECU, from another mechanic 100 km away, because my dealer is closing. I was full of hope, but nothing changed. He gave me an appointment to replace the starter motor, under warranty, in three weeks. Very very pissed off, because I use the motorbike every day. I will keep you informed

Be thankful you don’t have the issue where the rpm’s slowly drop off and cuts out regardless what speed you’re doing, throttle input is dead and it’s safe to put on the hazards as nothing can catch the slow fall of rpm’s.

23 model too and not even 7 months old, been back 5 times now

ok so I spoke to the stealership and they are stating the gas is the issue. I’ve heard others state this as well. He also stated that they were using 87 octane to fill new bikes and had issues with the hayabusa and other “performance” bikes so they switched. I was on my first tank and I have no idea what they put in this thing. I just got gas the other day and filled with 93. Let’s see what we get. I’ll be riding tomorrow and should have a good idea of what’s up. He states the lower octane causes no combustion at start up which causes a compression lock kind of scenario. He also stated 91 octane ethanol free is better and 93 octane ethanol free is better then that but good luck finding it. Your at race gas at that point. I’ll keep you informed.

After months of testing, these are my considerations with always 98 octane petrol and new battery: excluding hill assist, same result if turned off with key or kill switch, it’s hard even after two hours of standstill, always starts even without accelerating after 3 or 4 attempts. Shitty figure! I'm hoping to replace the starter motor

Now I ran it all day with a clean tank of 93. Not a single issue. Started it hot about a dozen times and not one issue. I believe this engine has too much compression for anything other then 93 or higher. Lower octane causes a pre ignition condition which locks up the starting process. If your still having this issue maybe change where you get gas and see if that helps. Not all pumps are created equal.

I hope you solved the problem with the petrol. But in Italy we have 95 or 98 petrol so in my case this isn't the problem, damn. I hope to resolve this by changing the starter motor in two weeks. If this doesn't solve it, at least let's exclude this cause
