c'mon.... its not TV or anything they see.... its these shytty parents who have kids and they are kids themselves... nobody ever showed them how to be an adult... at my job we have 20 somethings that work there that have NEVER been in a fight.... NEVER... their reactions to some of these uses of force are priceless.... I have a couple cousins who had kids and they were about as dumb as a stump.... my cousins are kids themselves... what life lessons can they impart?

I forgot and left out parents. There are a lot of crappy ones out there that use TV and video games as baby sitters. Do not properly discipline their kids. A lot if kids control their parents these days. I also firmly believe the factors I mentioned have a lot to do with it. Also schools and teachers...

I own multiple mutiple what you would consider assault rifles. Numerous ar-15s and ar-10s. I target practice with them every week. I hunt varmit with them as well in season. Whats so terrible about my "assault rifles". I can do way more damage with my 7mm mag .

well... stupid people see "assault" and automatically make assumptions.... these are our lawmakers.

Guns are tools . . . PERIOD.
Tools are a necessary part of everyday life for EVERYBODY.
Tools can be used or ABUSED by the PEOPLE that use them.
The problem we face is bad people, so we need to work on the bad people we have, and stop turning out more bad people.
How do we do that? . . . . . .
Necessary part of everyday life for EVERYBODY?! What year is this? everybody needs a gun for what? To go shoot dinner? for protection from grizzly bears? from savages? Please don't speak for me i'm doing fine. And why can't science give us a non-lethal form of protection?! Like laser guns set to stun lol

just pray to god that you never NEED a gun.... its better to have it and not need it than NEED it and not have it....

Necessary part

For protection from

From savages ?

Please do not

And why can't science give us

I have a solution to all the gun violence that will make everyone happy. Chill out and smoke weed! Seriously keep your guns, keep your assault rifles, heck buy more. but smoke weed everyday and chill the f*&# out! Im thinking of getting my carry permit just to protect myself from all you angry gun owners.

Although tools as you call them they do influence people and kids.

When I was a kid we were out all the time playing in the dirt, riding bikes, outdoor games even with toy cap guns. We interacted with other kids and adults. We got picked on and bullied. We lost games. We did not get a participation reward. I envied anyone that had a MC.

We learned about real life. We watched TV where people got shot and fell. Today you see blood and guts, heads chopped off, throats cut and there is a kind of immunity to it. People on tv today kill for no reason. When I was a kid it was normally a bad guy or good guy and the good guy normally won in the end.

Today most kids stay inside and watch TV, play video games, or on the internet and are exposed to all kinds of graphic violence and opinions.

It's this right here^
Couple that with the dieing of the modern family, one with a Mom And a Dad, who taught morals and values to their kids.
Now, far too many are raised by society, aka social media. They are being spoon fed and brainwashed with liberalism, and now socialism.
And now oppressing morals and values, as discrimination.
It's all part of a long term, government/ world elite, misdirection campaign to slowly take enough rights away(by conning voters into beliving their bs and voting their own rights away), until enough rights, and the U.S Constitution are gone.
Guns are a big deal in that plan, to both sides.
But, there I go with that conspiracy nonsense, again....

Some interesting responses here, some totally predictable ones too. Glad to read most of them, you guys are making sense for the most part. Gun violence is a complex problem, the solution will need to be equally nuanced. There's a lot of lies and misinformation spread on both sides of the debate, and participating in that bull$hit doesn't get us anywhere as a society. I'm sure those of you with whom I regularly interact are aware of the position I take on the issue, for anyone else who's interested suffice it to say that I'm in the middle. I'm politically liberal, but I went and put about 250 rounds through a few different platforms last Sunday, and had a great time doing it.
I know, a liberal who isn't anti-gun. Mind blowing concept for some....

As much as I'de like to completely agree with you Mr.Brown, I'm sure you're 5% wrong somewhere:poke:

My man!
As is typical for us, I'm sure you're 95% right about that too....
Hi. Gun control is beaning able to hit your target. One night 20 years ago I was going home at about 3 am a little old lady ran out of her house yelling { there is someone in my house} as I was driving by. I stopped told her to get in my car. I then ran in to her house with my gun. the back door was wide open, they ran out. Action beats reaction every time. I did not see anyone but I could here some sounds as I went in. Who knows maybe I saved her? You may think you do not need a gun to save you you may need one to save someone you do not even know. I shot 2000 to 3000 a year. I have my own range in my back yard I live on 57 acars with 1500 behind me.

Humans are complicated. The communities, cities, states and countries we've created are also complex.

Our communities are connected, locally and globality.

For me, this is where the conversations matters most, in our communities.

Three scenarios:

1. You hear a sound in your home. You arm yourself and set out to investigate the sound. You round a corner bump into a human figure. Do you fire ?

2. Your family and yourself are sitting in the family room, talking and enjoying time with one another. Your front door crashes open, followed by 3 unarmed people. You brandish the firearm hidden under your sofa. Do you fire ?

3. At a party you are hosting, you hear screams for help. You run to help and find your close friend physically assaulting your family member. You engaged verbally and physically without progress to stop the assault. You unholster your concealed firearm. Do you fire ?

These scenarios have one purpose, to have you consider the value of human life. Your life and the life of someone else.

We own lethal and non lethal firearms. We keep non lethal firemans in our home. Any "threat" to our family can be stopped, without using deadly force. These non lethal weapons have various capabilities, just as our lethal weapons have various capabilities.

Our lethal firearms are for their intended purpose, " ... the security of a free State ..." Many here in the US forget or misunderstand the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution and Bill Of Rights. This amendments allows citizens to arm themselves and organize to protect their freedom. It's not to shoot a burglar or intruder.

We protect our family and belonging 3 ways:

1. insurance, life and home owners
2. non lethal weapon
3. participating in our community; voting and community events

Life is something most of us value, protect yours and others. It is not necessary to use lethal weapons to protect life and belonging. It does require thought and preparation.

Thiefs, burglars and intruders can be held accountable for their actions in the judicial system. Use non lethal weapons to ensure they are alive for that process.

Relive your family and yourself the worry from taking another life or being sued in court.

Think first, then act. Plan your work and work your plan.

We can value life and protect our lives.

Well said. What is a non lethal gun you use?

You of all people are entitled to own a firearm. Actually, I'm not opposed to most people having them, with certain exceptions. Mentally ill, certain criminal convictions etc. I don't think all people need unfettered access to any type of armament they want, and I'm tired of the gun industry pretending there isn't a problem. I'm equally tired of the anti-gun idiots pretending that removing guns is a viable solution. Guns can and do save lives. They also end them.
