It just doesn't stop

How does a guy like this get a firearm? It must have been an illegal one..

I read that in this particular neighborhood lots of people are shooting in their backyards and when the police are called, nothing gets done....at least the police could have confirmed if these people who are shooting are supposed to have firearms in the first place...and that bylaws are being followed.
I remember a certain president getting absolutely roasted over making the statement about murderers coming over our borders.

I'd like to know who rents to them. According to this story it was a whole neighborhood of illegal immigrants. In my state we can't rent to illegal aliens.

Just another event done by a violent illegal immigrant where they knew something like this would eventually happen so they could hopefully blame a gun he used instead of themselves for creating these situations in our country. And yeah you’re right when Trump said ‘some of them coming over are criminals’ he was right and blasted for it.

It sounds to me like the whole system failed....

An illegal immigrant living in a subdivision (probably working somewhere in Texas) owning a firearm which was often shot in his yard, police doing nothing and then the eventual murder of innocents over a noise complaint.....

If the police were doing their job, they would have investigated this guy to see if he was legal to be:

a) in the US
b) owning firearms
c) legally allowed to discharge firearms in the area he was in...

Seems like the police did their job more than once and deported this turd.
Lax border policies allowed him to get back in.

I understand living here undocumented is against the law, but you (and Trump) make it sound like being that and being a murderer go hand in hand. There are many US citizens that are are murderers but obviously that doesn’t make citizenship and murder synonymous.

When a portion of the people coming in are like this guy someone who has no problem executing people including an 8yr old kid then yes that’s a problem. I don’t care if it’s 1 out of every 100. When millions have simply streamed in without even the slightest way to prove who they are and what they may have done in the past it adds up.
This guy in question has been deported four times. Now he’s murdered people in a senseless crime. YES lax border policies created this situation and it needs to be stopped, period.
You want to come here do it the right way. Fill out the forms and WAIT. An extensive background check should be done. If they can’t prove you are a good person and deserve to be here than you ain’t getting in. I don’t care how long it takes to process.
My wife’s aunt and uncle both 64yrs spent their entire lives in cuba. They were recently approved to come here after trying to get permission for almost 12yrs. First time ever on a plane, first time ever in the USA. When we picked them up at Miami Intl airport they got off the plane and just the food shops in the airport was mind bending shock. Next day we took them to a Walmart that also has a grocery in it. Remember these people came from long lines waiting for rotten chicken. Haven’t had beef in decades. What they saw in Walmart literally made both break down and cry. Then of course my wife did and all three of them crying made me do so. So there we were standing in the front of the store with them beholding how good things are all crying tears of joy. Those are the kind of people who deserve to be here. Not some thug who’s slipped in four times.

I get it that you don't care but somebody should. My heart goes out to your wife's family and everyone else deserving. Some people don't have 12 years. Everyone's situation is different. Your painting of undcumented people is distorted. The great majority are good people trying to live their lives just like people lucky enough to have been born here. That's my point. Generalizing people under dire circumstances is not right. Period. There are immoral people in all walks of life. Categorzing them by their personal situations is wrong.

How do we know which ones are or aren't? It's not like we are running and background checks on them.

One out of 100 alright with you? One out of 1000? I am not at all opposed to people immigrating here. But I'd like to know if they have criminal activities in their backgrounds. We have more Fentanyl coming here than ever before. More sex trafficking than ever. More human trafficking than ever. I'd like to fight that coming here, rather than fight to get rid of them after they are here.

Where did I paint anyone? I didn’t, nowhere. I used 1 out of 100 as a simple example. If it’s not that what number are you comfortable in saying is? Now figure that into the millions who have come. Sure everyone wants to live happy. Unfortunately the world is a cruel place. We can’t take everyone in from everywhere. I just don’t agree with letting everyone in basically unchecked with a promise to report to a hearing weeks or months down the road.

How on God’s green earth are women and children ‘walking two months thru jungles’ and showing up in fresh clothes and shoes at our border without serious coordinated assistance?

I was asked by the Herman Health group to look at contracting for transport. Herman is about the largest Healthcare provider in Houston.

They need help getting IC (indigent care) out of their hospitals. IC takes up approximately 30% of their bed space.

In the days I spent there my main contact was a well educated, well employed, well payed 1st generation Mexican American. Her father was one of those that crossed the border as a young man. Worked 3 jobs. Paid taxes. Got to participate in the American dream.

Part of what I needed to see was the scope of the problem. She took me to what amounted to a tent city. Immigrants that some brilliant portion of our govt said, we can't keep them in processing centers too long. So they have ankle monitors placed on them and a cellphone provided so they can be reached as the process needs to see them. There were thousands of them

From the mouth of a 1st generation American.
"There is no way I could have become what I have here had my dad not sacrificed like he did. Mexico would have never allowed me to get to this."

"But we can't do this (as she looked over this little city of tents)". We, meaning the hospital system, is going bankrupt caring for them.

Someone has helped them learn, if you call 911, you will get into the hospital system.

They know if they complain of abdominal pains of unknown origins, they can get 3-5 days of food, and running water, and a bed. The hospital kicks them out after not being able to find anything.

They call 911 and come right back into the system.

It's literally going to take away your healthcare system that will cave in from loss of revenues.

So it's not about who is a criminal. The whole picture is bad.

They are told before they get here to claim political asylum. 98% of them will not be granted that status. Meanwhile it takes about 2 years to process that request. In that time, by law, we cannot employ them.

So the whole system is broken and yes they are getting help to work the system. I don't want to pay for this.

You pointed out first and foremost that Oropesa is undocumented, as if that explains why he went on a murderous rage.
How do we know which ones are or aren't? It's not like we are running and background checks on them.

Zero murders by ANYONE is the only ok number. The system is broken, but it’s not the immigrant’s fault.

So the next rationalization in your logic will be we are responsible for these murders?

We have enough murderers on our own. We don't need to import more.

We ARE responsible. We're responsible because we have allowed the country to be flooded with guns.

Is sarcasm really necessary? Ever? Moral, innocent people OBVIOUSLY are not responsible for murders. Your second paragraph explains my comment to Blanca perfectly. You equate welcoming immigrants to importing murderers.

No sir it does not. Nowhere is anyone here saying all the immigrants are criminals.

There are 2 components for fault. His or ours? Unless you can come up with other possible at fault parties.

If that is correct than your logic says it would be our fault. Because of guns is I believe is your stance?
