My Beloved O-Ren Has An Issue...

(bigoltool @ Jun. 02 2007,12:07) Man I haven't had a Fresca in years!

Reminds of the scene in Patton when the reporter asks him if his revolvers are pearl handled? Patton Replied " Only a pimp from a New Orleans whorehouse would carry pearl handled revolver son, these are Ivory!

Good luck with the cam fix!

1. "taking it" to someone else is NOT..."cheaper"...besides...

2. This has become "personal"!

and?..

3. Take heart cause...The level of anxioty and fraustration you felt to post/edit such a response?..is but a fraction of what i've been feeling w/ no busa to ride the past few weeks.

life always sux when your busa is sick.

L8R, Bill.
Time is money...just thought your sanity was worth something.

And the "edit" was to add a word.

Some of us do use spell check and read the post to make sure it posted correctly.
so..you reviewed it...spell checked it...and then stillll hadta edit it to add a word?

(bitabur @ May 27 2007,03:37) It seems like 05BusaLe probably has the right idea, but I keep thinking that it started right after you did a valve adjust...

are you sure you didn't put one of the cams back on the wrong tooth of the timing chain... it would make sense to me that at low speed one set of valves could be closing too early, not letting the engine run right.... at higher speed the engine might be able to flow enough before this becomes an issue b/c it's flowing faster, then when it's cold/not lubed up the valves are dropping just a bit slower, masking the problem, but only when it's cold.

Hey, this might be totally impossible, but it's just a theory, and like I said, 05BusaLe is probably right, especially if you haven't noticed any performance change.
I would just like to point out that I suggested this a week ago.

well?...i've never really rulled that out as a possibility but...i just wasn't in a rush to search the thickest jungles first...and as i eluded to?....after the first time the cam chain jumped (at initial dis-assy) i was never really quite certain regarding that exhaust cam sprocket arrow that was like 1/2 a tooth off perfect alignment..."that"...turned into a judgement call sorta thing...judgement appealed by wrong way feldmen!

I know (and I totally understand, and if I were you I probably would have done things in the same order), it just feels good to see that I actually know what I'm talking about.

(jjmetheny @ Jun. 02 2007,17:15) So your cam is installed like this? I'd say that is your problem if it is.
CAM6.jpg
yes....it is....and the problem here is this...if i roll it a single tooth forward in the chain?...the arrow falls approx. the same distance "BELOW" the top deck of the head..which is the position i'll be trying next...almost like the exhaust cam sprocket is clocked like exactly 1/2 a tooth off in relation to the exhaust cam..noth'in i wanted to see...as a matter of fact?...member mountainmotor (at the time of re-assy) had a set of cams for sale..had i the cash at the time?..they'd of been mine over this.

The great news?...it wasn't an expensive fuel pump or ecu.

The good news?...A 'lil wrenching and i'm back on the road.

The cool news?...I now know far more than i used to about my busa's workings.

The bad news?...I'll be 49 next month and this is my one day off from working 55hrs a week...and my azz is kicked...hearts not really in it...maybe later today...and remember folks..right in the middle of all this?..i got my home completely re-sided w/ hardi-plank..new sophet and facia...new fiberglass fanlight front door installed and a new windload garage door and?...the entire house painted...i didn't do much of the work at all (outside of my 55hr a week machinist job) but now?..I gotta buy and install a new door bell button...fix the shed door hinge (wifes washing and painting it to match the house) but maybe later this afternoon?...i'll catch a wildhair and start wrenching again.

Thanks for all the help and L8R, Bill.

Well like i said allways go back to the last thing you did... And guess what ?? It was .... I'm not busting Bills chops because we have all done something like that at one time or another .. I didn't feel he had it out of timing, i was thinking he lashed the valves to tight ...But at least i was close ...lol...

and ya know what 1300?...i'm old enough and wise enough to know that...wether the advice that was given was taken or not?...or wether the advice given wasn't worth a shid, spot on, or not?...or wether we agreed or not...the bottomline here for everyone who responded to this thread is...

They took the time out of their day to muster up their best thinking and thought through responses then took the time to type them into internet text and post a response in an effort too....

PS: and if nothing else?....

1. today makes 3 times that i've been under ORens valve cover and all through her valve train...and i'm gett'in pretty good at this!
laugh.gif

2. This time may not prove to be any better than the last 4-5 "Solid Hunches" i've had throughout this ordeal...that i'll choose to call "an experience"...and learned alot along the way..including..that the sprockets on your cams may NOT NECESSARILY be clocked or have the arrows aligned quite as well with the timing lines/surfaces as pictured in the shop manual..or?...

3. It still may NOT be what we THINK it is.

but i'll know in a few hours!

okee-dokee folks...justa letchya'll know?...today marks the 2nd time i've re-checked my cam timing and cam chain link count between the cam sprockets and?...it's dead on...matches the pix i took before 1st removing it and matches the marks in the shop manual...so now what?
rock.gif

To note?:...when i removed the t-bodys to get'em outta my way and swing them over the side?...raw fuel was nearly "puddling" on top of my intake boots.

i end this afternoon where i started yesterday morning....

not having a clue wtf could possibly be wrong.
