He obviously wasn't a caring health professional. Probably afraid of his own shadow too.
He could've stopped his vehicle, backed it up, turned on his hazards, and waited for emergency services to arrive.
Ya know I'm gonna try and frame this part up some. Not trying to defend anyone or any profession. There are chytheads in every profession or walk of life.
And maybe I left out some details as this post has gotten some legs and I may not recall what was posted.
Do we know what type of physician this physician was?
Should he or could he have done human things like flashers etc. Absolutely. So I will offer no defense there.
Was this doctor an eye doctor? A urologist? A neo natal specialist? I'll venture an We don't know to that. So OK he's a doctor. Would an eye doctor be much help in rendering aid?
Now here's the part that sucks. And I spent a lot of time discussing this with a physician I dated for 2 years. Doctors by nature wish to help people. Yeah some turn into asshats by demanding 1M a year to help a professional athlete or a cut open a brain but hey if I could expect that for for helping I wouldn't say I'm not worth it.
So let's table for now what they make and focus on they get into the profession to help people.
Now I'm a helpful doctor that rolls up on Mighty Mythos here. Bleeding, unconscious and who knows what. This doctor has an instant problem. If he stops to render aid and mighty Mythos dies, now the doc has to start answering some unpleasant questions. Usually by at least one attorney. Did you render aid. Yes. And he died. So maybe you didn't render proper aid. Pay up. Or you rendered aid and he still died. We're you qualified to render that aid? Pay up. Or did you stop to render aid? No I wasn't qualified, I'm an eye doctor. I kept driving. Pay up.
Doctors are an attorneys favorite targets. Not because they might be good doctors trying to help but because they can siphon $$ out of the doctor's insurance policy if someone dies or is crippled or brain damaged. Doctors are as pissed about this as you are!
We were out at a bar listening to a band once. A man who was drunk, fell backwards out of his chair and split his head open on the edge of table on the way down. Split it open badly! Bleeding like a faucet was turned on. Unconscious.
She said we need to leave NOW! I was like wait can't you help till 911 arrives. No we need to go now. She left and I hurriedly paid the bill.
She explained this to me on the drive home.
One of the factors to our splitting was as a result of a patient from 2 years before we met. A heavy smoker, died of lung cancer. She spotted a spot on his lung, results came back negative. She suggested strongly he stop smoking. Asked him to come back in 6 months for follow up. He chose not to come back or stop smoking. Developed cancer and died. She was sued for not being aggressive enough in her treatment and follow up.
Her carrier advised her to settle for 1M or they would drop her coverage if she took it to trial and had to still pay out. They would pay out but drop her. She was insured for 2. Which is EXACTLY the amount she was being sued for. Not once as part of settlement suggesting she was a bad doctor or did anything wrong.
It crushed her! She literally could not feel confident in herself after that. She just lost her spirit. She withdrew and started spending weeks not wanting to get together.
I talked to my doctor neighbor about it. I watched her change and confided in him. It's a REAL problem for the profession. Malpractice cases lead to divorces, substance abuse, referring patients out needlessly.
So doctors have to grit their teeth and NOT risk becoming a payoff when they see mighty Mythos lying there as they drive by.
So that's an alternative outlook for us to try to understand.
Yeah it sucks!
I saw her in March of last year by circumstance. Just before Covid set in. We never spoke. She has aged 15 years in the time since we broke up. She has ballooned in weight. Her face was defeated and cold. I can only imagine what Covid did to the physicians morale!
She had such spark in the time I knew her. She LOVED being a doctor. It's all she ever wanted to be since she was 9. She put herself through med school. Paid of all her student debt after 15 years of practice. She tested in the top 5% in the nation on her board recert exams. 5% of all doctors in all areas of practice (Brain and athlete doctors mentioned). I was immensely proud of her!
Because a smoker that she touched, died of lung cancer.
It sucks!
