Russia and Ukraine

It amazes me as to how many videos I've seen of singular Russian vehicles seemingly wandering around with no protection...

Sure makes them easy pickings.
Many Ukrainian troops were trained by western militaries and it shows.
Done a Field Ex. over there with my old Battalion. They were accomplished wrestlers too,I remember that.
Good lads

Yes, easy pickings for a Long. They'll soon learn if haven't done so yet

Me too, I'm trying to figure out this war??

We have 40km of military vehicles from the enemy like sitting ducks, almost no spaces between them. One fighter jet, or even a chopper could deliver massive damage to the convoy, but nothing happens.

Then you get folks trying to stop an enemy vehicle by standing in front of it?

Then the enemy hits a residential building.

Enemy vehicles breaking down and running out of fuel, and the locals make jokes with them.

No chance. That convoy will have top cover.

Aghast at Trumps praise of Putin..
Smart.. Tough cookie.. Genius etc
I wonder how many votes that'll cost him
Without defending either one of them...none of those adjectives define a person's character.
Had Trump called him a mother f**ker the media response would've been the same.
For negotiations, the old addage of 'you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar' holds true.

In my opinion which many here think is bat crap crazy... Try this.... The wisdom of Charles Hodgekinson.

He explains how the leaders of humanity are failing to find ways to redirect this trajectory we are on collectively by attempting to solve the worlds problems with old outdated solutions that will likely never solve todays issues.

Update...
Sorry to say... the video below comes up as no longer available... Must be You Tube suppressing the platform where great ideas come forth as well as the truth... When centralized power has control and uses that control to limit free speech because they disagree with the ideas and truth being shared... then we have a continuation of power that corrupts.

A very odd invasion force.....

I think Putin was really hoping the Ukrainians were going to collapse and treat his troops like liberators....and on the same side of the coin, he might have sent sacrificial lambs in with hopes the Ukrainians would expend all the new weapons the west gave them...without those systems, the Russians are very much superior in weapons and equipment.

This is a little stupid, so who better than I to say it here? Haha. We spend all this money on weapons like the F-22 and then we never use them, or at least we don't admit to using them. So what if we got the Ghost of Kyiv out of Ukraine and taught him how to use the F-22 and sent him back into Ukraine to tear it up? He supposedly shot down 6 planes in a day, imagine shooting down 6 planes at one time! Seriously though the F-35s are already in a lot of NATO hands, why not let Ukraine fly them? The F-18s are maybe not a match for the 27 and 29, but the F-35 should fare better. Also, the STOL version would be bombed flight line proof.

The US would never allow an F-22 out of US hands.....they are a non-export fighter.

The Russians control the air in Ukraine...there seems to be quite a bit of propaganda from the Ukraines in order to bolster their fighting spirit-it makes perfect sense for them to do this...

The "Ghost of Kyiv" 6 kills in a supersonic day and age is nothing short of amazing......

I don’t understand why Ukraine hasn’t destroyed that long Russian military column of vehicles outside of Kyiv.
You'd think they would have ground assets to at least eliminate some of the convoy....the air is controlled by the Russians but I've read there are drones capable of infiltrating the air space....

If I was the Ukraine commander, I'd be wiping out everything I could before it can get into position.

On the other side of the coin, the Russians (if they were smart) should encapsulate the major cities not allowing anything in or out and then blockade the Ukrainian borders and not allow any shipments into the country thus winning by attrition.

We all know they aren't going to do this and might very well overpower the Ukrainian military forces only to face them in an insurgency role.

Well, again rumors are that parts of that convoy are out of food and fuel. Pretty amazing. I am remembering the run across the desert to Baghdad we made and how difficult it was for the supply lines to keep up with the armor. Just seems like the Russians are moving incompetently slow and without planning. Seems like a few guys with RPGs could snarl that convoy and not be too easy pickings for helos.

I have been told by many that the US would cut up the Russians in a direct conflict because of the superior professionalism of our command and control. I know getting control of the skies would be difficult, but I'm starting to question Russia's capability against a modern, relatively equal opponent.

I think because it has been so long since either military was against a peer opponent, it would be a real challenge...it's one thing to go into a country and dominate from the get-go, it's an entirely different thing to be facing a peer force who has all the same capabilities.

I am very surprised the Ukrainian forces are allowing the Russian advance to be unchallenged long before it reaches any built up areas....

Just like you said, even a few small elements with anti material/armor/ aircraft weapons would throw chaos into this convoy and maybe even enough to either slow them to extreme caution, demoralize them or stop them entirely....

The Ukrainians could be using insurgency tactics on this convoy....it might have force protection but that can't cover every aspect of travel.

If the Ukrainians had emplaced "laid back patrols" they could have caught the convoy refueling and destroyed the refuellers........I'm not quite getting what they are thinking....I guess that is how our training differs from theirs...

I wonder if for all the extraordinary things the president of Ukraine has accomplished, his lack of military experience is finally showing through?

One would think his military leaders would be directing the military....unless his military chain of command is based on Russian ideology where the head of state is the only one who directs operations....

This has always been the Achille's heal of the Russians. That's what got their arses handed to them in Afghanistan....the leader knew what was going on and didn't divulge this to his troops...once he got wiped out, they were lost.

I was just reading about "war crimes" being perpetuated by the Russians during their approach when they are engaging civilian targets....

Ukraine has armed their citizens who are not wearing uniforms and have put a call in to create an "international brigade" comprised of many non-military trained individuals.....this sort of thing to me borders on war crimes as it is the duty of a nation's leader to protect it's citizens-not to place them in harm's way.

If a uniformed military encounters armed resistance from non-uniformed citizens, how are they to know these citizens aren't soldiers out of uniform who have formed a partisan unit....this puts all citizens armed or not in peril...an advancing military doesn't have the luxury of picking and choosing targets.

And as far as this "international brigade" goes, I'm surprised NATO is allowing this...how will it play out when these international citizens get killed? Will the host nation think the death of one of their citizens give them cause to launch a war tribunal against Russia?
