Russia and Ukraine

I can’t believe how much of what the news has been showing is getting fact checked and lots of videos are from years prior or not even in Ukraine. It’s like covid all over again the news jumps on everything and anything without proper fact checking or research. This goes for Canadian new to American to Europe news.
And all of a sudden there are Ukrainians everywhere in every walk of life all jumping on the band wagon...

Never heard from any of these people when Crimea was annexed...

I think the use of nukes is almost inevitable. The law of, if it can happen it will. Not neccesarily in this conflict. But one day. Can take your pick as to who would be the most likely. Unfortunately there are enough countries with sufficient hatred.
I remember watching a programme whereby something alien flew over a US missile field and stood down the minutemen. Turned them all off.
To nuke whom? Ukraine? The whole of Europe? The U.S.?

Indeed.
Strange that.
Crimea is more synonymous with Russia to me. Not least because we spanked the Russian Army there in spite of Lord Idiot sending the Cav. up the wrong valley into the Russian canons.

As I say.. Not neccesarily in this conflict.
Point being.. They exist, so will get used. In line with the human condition. No point in having a bigger club if you don't use it from time to time. Hopefully not obviously.

It was always assumed a nation like North Korea or Iran would be the ones to launch a nuke at someone...

Hopefully it never becomes a reality

Yes and no...

They can weaken bonds between certain countries which were on the fence before the conflict..

They strengthen the resolve of people-look at how it has strengthened NATO and the people of Ukraine
They are normally good for the economy when production increases-people are put to work.
They bring the strangest of people together in a common goal.

They hurt the environment
They destroy infrastructure
They kill people
They eat up natural resources

They have also been waged ever since there were humans and have shaped our society to what it is and will be.
So, war is a double edged sword of sorts. In the end their are winners and losers. Where the losers won a war or a countries takeover through other means we usually have a tyrant running the country. Where the winners win we have a freedom and liberty guided government that allows the reformation of that specific country like we saw at the end of WW2. We showed Britain, France, Spain and other countries who America is... and Russia showed east Germany and other countries who they are with a totalitarian system of governance after WW2 ended.

Ray Dalio explains how wars play into the repetitive nature of history.

I saw that video too... Several workers went outside to see what was happening and why their operation was down according to the systems that monitor the readiness of the launching system.

I don't need a person like this Ray Delo to explain anything war related to me.

Wars are in different scales...wars are being waged daily on a smaller scale...

World wars such as we faced were rare events....now that the nuclear solution is so close at hand, we won't survive another world war....the advent of nuclear capability has changed the face of war.

In summary..
We just can't help ourselves
If we can build it, we will.
Then we will resist using it, until one day someone won't be able to.

Well it’s been what, 77 years since a nuke has been used? Hopefully the deterrent effect that’s been in place all those years is still valid. BTW, where are you? Fill in your profile.:)

I’ve been pissed since they annexed in 2014 and I’ve been telling people for years it was Russians military special forces dressed in civilian clothing and that one day Russia would go for the rest of Ukraine. But Ukraine fell away from the lime light and boom Russia goes for the whole thing 8 years later.

I personally don’t trust our media and what they say. There is a middle ground here we are not being told. I don’t hate Russia for doing it they don’t want a nato country on their door step loading up with nato arms. But the majority of Ukrainians want a free society so I’m with Ukraine 100% (plus I’m 3/4 Ukrainian)

Stop all wars

Stop all wars... started by physcopathic dictators and their ilk ie Saddam, Gaddafi, Bashad, Ho Chi Minh and Omar/OBL with a grudge against peaceful peoples and democratic countries.
Not forgetting the current cnut of the moment.. Putin

That validity is wearing increasingly thin seemingly.
I reside in Great Britain. The nice bit.

i always thought the real risk was some sort of 'dirty' bomb by terrorist org. you know that think if they self destruct - there will be 44 virgins waiting in heaven
Probably it's going to be a country being backed into a corner that cops it
I can see in a long way down the road it's going to be a unstable nuclear power that is threatening to use one may be the beneficiary of one most likely from a sub at short range

I was just watching the evacuation of critically I’ll children by train…what’s that SOB Putin doing, trying to get Zelensky to give up by bombing innocents? It’s certainly not a conventional war, targeting military targets. The man with no balls killing innocents will live forever likened to Pol Pot, Minh and Hitler. He needs to be taken out!

Yes... we are still having proxy wars... and likely to see more of them.

There is more to the order of the world than wars.
