School shootings

I'm not suggesting attacking anyone that legally owns firearms. But you should either change laws to narrow who's legal to own, or make high capacity high caliber be licensed more towards a Class III type qualifications.

Mr Jones, you're going to need to document the purpose of this AR-15 so we can issue a user license to you.

I have not yet seen any evidence that anyone ignored any laws that made it legal for him to buy 2 for his 18th BDay.

Those laws are what I am struggling with.
It’s not a country people with buying guns but more of a state problem. Every state has its own gun laws. Some states it’s 18 and some 21 to buy a hand gun or assault style weapon. Some states have a law that’s called Constitutional carry and let people legally carry a firearm with no back ground check.

One thing to think about if your 18 and you can get drafted and fight for your country why can’t you buy a firearm? Or smoke? Or drink alcohol? Idk. Is 18 the right age anymore to be able to do that anymore? Are you really an adult at that age? Lots of things to think about. Things need to change in this changing world. But I don’t think we will ever get the change we really need

It appears to me it takes more than accumulated years to gain the common sense required to own and operate guns responsibility. Some people are advanced beyond their age and others never catch up to their chronological age.

Because we don't get drafted here. We volunteer for the military. And they reject applicants that fail pre-screening. And if accepted, they are trained to know the purpose of the weapon. Trained to use it. Trained to use other means besides firearms.

Nowhere in my military training did they teach us weapons were for any other purpose than to kill the other person. Yeah by default we could use them to hunt animals as a means to survive. But that was just an added side benefit.

Very good point. This is HUGELY undercovered by the media.

Here where I live there was a mass shooter stopped in the parking lot by an armed citizen before he could enter into the Bass Pro Shop. Unknown how many lives that saved.

Another in a Best Buy parking lot. A male was commiting an assault on a woman. A passerby with a CCW shot the man.

The soldiers on the train in France that stopped an ISIS shooter.

In Tx Jack Wilson stopped a shooter from mass event in a Tx.

There are scores of other examples like this.

You never got 15 minutes of news coverage about these.
Hi. That is because they do not want people to know what good a good person with a gun can do. It does not fit there plan . They want to brain wash you that guns can not be used to save lives only to take a life.

The problem with this is twofold- the people who decide what high capacity high caliber is will have a simple 9mm semi auto pistol (your basic handgun) with a standard 17rd magazine lumped into that group, so now all guns besides a revolver require a reason, and two, anyone planning criminal activity that actually buys a gun legally, isn’t going to say “I need this to commit a crime”

This kid in particular spent a whole lot of money and then posted the guns he bought and freaked all his friends/associates out with his comments and nobody said anything. Perfect red flag law usage but ppl need to speak up.

Personally I don’t think “every“ teacher needs to be armed but if schools weren’t gun free zones, u know some would be armed and they would no longer be such a soft target.

There is your answer
In canada do know how easy it is to buy a black market pistol or black market AR15 and how illegal it is? (Very easy) You can make the guns nearly impossible even outlaw them with harsh punishments, but at the end of the day the market is flooded and there is always going to be a black market and if someone wants one they can get it easily.

The massive loop-hole with all these laws is the the guns are already out there you can pass whatever law you want, it won't put a dent in these psychopathic killing sprees.

You didn't really mention the other default of usefulness when it come to guns.. The self preservation feature also ranks high on the right to life and preservation of a freedom based lifestyle. Just having an American flag prominently in your front yard lets the riff riff know that the homeowner is most likely armed... and that is the first line of defense that makes gun ownership part of the "I will save my own ass if trouble shows up at 223 am or noon time".

When bad guys know citizens are armed inside any building they usually keep moving and look for a softer target.

Consider the evidence lockers at Police stations... have you ever seen the bad guys try to rob one of those? I am not saying it has never happened. With the summer of 2020 where the thug cartel on the left looted and burned multimillions worth of merchandise and buildings ... the police station (s) they commandeered were likely robbed of all the valuable evidence contained within.

Guns when used properly have saved many lives and at the same time disposed of human excrement that needed to die anyway.

I didn't miss it. It just wasn't pertinent in the response. I believe every citizen should have the right to protect themselves as our Constitution outlines. I am licensed to carry a concealed weapon. And I am active in that spirit

I also have training, history and recognition at the importance and responsibility of this license.

What training did an 18 year old kids have in self defense use of the weapon. His rounds used passed through building walls.

That is miles away from a self defense round. He purchased them with the intent to kill. And posted such on social media.

Easy to judge after the fact.....only time will bring out what happened.

I'd imagine the police weren't relishing being in that hallway knowing what was going on either.
plenty of “chads” with body armor and long rifles onscene but were scared to confront an untrained 18yr old. police knew it was 1 guy bc a SRO “confronted” him. the dps director said the rules of engagement go out the window with active shooters and people were still calling 911 asking for help while 19 officers waited for almost an hr before attempting to engage. where were all the “sheep dogs” that day? i dont believe it’s judging when the police had the tools, training, and superior numbers to deal with the situation. i can see them taking a few minutes to form a stack ,plan the door breach, maybe a quick prayer.

I know for one, I sure wouldn't have waited that long to breach and engage....

Each one of the responding officers need to be first kicked in the arse and second, get much better training.

A very sad situation which will have judgement coming.

I ran into a situation years ago when training police ERTs, some teams would show up who weren't dedicated ERT-they were patrol officers who did ERT as a secondary task...they still thought like a patrol officer when doing dynamic breaches or tactical search and eliminate drills....we beat the patrol officer mentality out of them after a while but one of my team said as soon as that guy goes back to his day job, he'll soon forget everything we taught him. I wonder if these Texas officers were dedicated SWAT or ERT?

Sorry about that... I was preaching to the choir and forgot how capable you are.

This isn't the first time a "cop" skipped out on doing thier job. I recall one of these I think it was in FLA., where they caught on video the SRO getting in a golf cart and heading away from the shots being fired. AND knew they were being fired.

There was supposed to a culture shift in training to go in and neutralize rather than form a perimeter and wait for back up.

But I'm beginning to think that was to look good in paper.

SROs are glorified security guards. They aren't the shiniest bulb at XMas. Certainly don't have anything that can stack up against an AR

It’s sad but we have to recognize what policing in Uvalde is like. It’s a lil border town of about 16,000 residents. Their PD probably has less than two dozen cops in total. Even though Texas may require their officers to pass some sort of Academy training, what else are they trained to do? 3-4 cops on the street at any one time with a Sgt or watch commander and a dispatcher. Not exactly LAPD.

Hi. Bee
I know that you would have gone in and so would I. I am sure you have some wild stories. I thank you for your service.
