This is a quote for my believing brethren..
1 Corinthians
001:017 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
001:018 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
001:019 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
001:020 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
001:021 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
001:022 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
001:023 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
001:024 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
001:025 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
001:026 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
001:027 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
001:028 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
001:029 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
001:030 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
001:031 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

warwagn, why do you put so much mental time and energy into disproving something?  what does that do for you?  you seem to know an AWFUL LOT about something you don't believe in.

If I don't believe in something, [say like Megadeth], I don't bother with it at all or it would bring me down
just because I dont belive in it does not mean I am correct, so I need to study it untill I can find proof one way or another. I am one of those who cant leave shid alone, I just love to know how stuff works or the truth behind what is. Thats why I look so much into evolution and science, to try and understand the big picture, and part of the picture is religon, so I must look into that as well.

I was raised as a catholic and was made to go to church as a kid, but never really put much stock in it. Once I got old enough to make up my own mind I quit going all together. Now I try to find as many educated answers as I can so when my kids ask me questions I can give them the best answers I can untill they can make their own choice about life.

But mainly it's just the search that i enjoy, i love learning new things.

I'm speaking of the seperation between BC and AD why the need or for that matter what caused time to be split in two?
(there is no need for it, it's that way because a pope did it, how else would a pope do it?)

So why would scholars and scientists put up with time being dated around a fictional character?
(because it is an acurate system and has been in place so long. The same reason we havent banned the bible as fiction, we cant, to much religous influence in the world)

Speaking of wether someone existed or not, how do we know that Columbus stepped foot on America and that Abe Lincoln actually gave the Gettysburg Address?  I think it's called eyewitness accounts.

(exactly, eyewitness accounts at the time it happened, and those people wrote about it as it happened and recorded it then. Not 100 and 200 and 300 years after the fact)
you answered your own questions mostly, but I just gave you a little help.

First and foremost you'll never understand a God that doesn't communicate with you (obviously by your own choice). Got (2) scenarios for you:

Scenario #1: Evolution is right and creation is wrong
I'm a firm believer, I've seen evidence in my own life. Yet, I'm wrong there is no God so I live a properous life by rules that don't exist. I avoid many sexually transmitted diseases because I Cor 6:9-10 says no fornicator will see the Kingdom of God. I'm in excellent physical shape because I Cor 6:19 says my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. So despite the fact that I'm wrong and live by a false belief system I live a physically, mentally and spiritually prosperous life.

Scenario #2: You're wrong and after death there is a judgement and an eternity in hell, where there is weeping and knashing of teeth.

See, the consequences are tremendous so saying I don't believe isn't going to save you, saying we evolved (from monkeys who still inhabit the earth I might add) won't save you. Everyone of us will stand judgement and the question is what will God say to you?

I once read someone post that Christians were weak and didn't want to make decisions for themselves so they look towards a false God. Well I beg to differ, nonchristians don't want to accept the fact that this world operates on principles not of the physical variety. So I say it's "nonbelievers" who are weak and don't want to accept that their butts don't belong to them and they're NOT in control, accept of where their souls will spend eternity.

SO IF YOU'RE BETTING YOUR SOUL ON THIS, GO FOR IT. JUST DON'T DIE!!!

God bless you all and may God reveal Himself to you in a very special way!!!

so I should belive in somthing out of fear?

If that works for you so be it, I prefer to belive something because it is true not because I am scared not to belive it.

Early sailors stuck close to land and were afraid to sail the open oceans for fear of falling off the edge of the earth. Fear does not set you free, it holds you back.

But if there is a god, then he gave me free will to make my own choices, and if he wants me to find him I will.

Luke 12:5
But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

Fear not in the sense of not being able to function without worrying about God harming you, but more so in respect.  I liken it to my earthly father.  When I was a child I loved him tremendously, but my level of respect was so high for him it borderlined on fear. This is because I knew he had to power to beat my butt from room to room and there was noone who could stop him (he was 6' 1" 300+ too).  This scripture is saying if you're going to fear anyone fear the One who has to ability to cast you into utter darkness after death.  I read some of your posts war and if you want to know Him seek Him, with all your heart.  He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.  This world didn't just burst on the seams, the time some are spending trying to disprove the truth is going to be very costly.  So I say "fear" Him now or for certain "fear" Him later on that day of judgement.

Be blessed

I have to search with my mind.

I liken your example to the Y2K bug, a lot of people went out buying all kids of supplies so when everything stopped they would be safe. The fear of a disrupted life and the end of the world drove them to waste resources and some said if I am wrong I will just have extra stuff but if you are wrong you'll be sorry. They could have used that money to put a down payment on a busa instead of buying water and all the other crap. Of course this is small scale compared to an entire life time, but i have to go with reason, I am not going to spend my life in fear of what could happen, I would rather spend it wisley on my present and a future based on the real.

My mind allowed me see that the Y2K was not based on reality and I acted accordingly. I will trust my mind and what reality can show me. I dont wate my time trying to dis prove anything as some have suggested, but if you look at what i am asking I am trying to find proof of what is real. Trying to find answers is not trying to disprove anything.

Isn't it funny how this topic can cause such a tizzy?  I used to get bent out of shape on these topics but I've come to understand one thing, there are mysteries of the bible and things God doesn't want us to know.  Why because we don't need to know them, they are not vital.  What we need to know is in a book, the bible.  Written by MEN of God like anything else you read including science books!  So why does this cause such a problem?  It's more than just a belief it's spiritual. If you have questions about God and want to know Him SEEK HIM!! If you know in your heart God does not exist and it's a fairy tale then God has also looked at your heart and that's why you don't know Him.   To the believers don't waste time anymore going back and forth with anyone who is going to have to experience God up close and personal before they will believe.  There are too many souls that need to hear the gospel and what a loving God did for all of us.  How can you tell someone their belief is false when they have experienced that which you say is false.  We walk by faith, not by sight, the world walks by sight not by faith.  I'm done with this tread because there is work to be done!

Psalms 24:1 says

1 The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it,
      the world, and all who live in it;
2 for he founded it upon the seas
and established it upon the waters.

EVERYTHING INCLUDING "EVOLUTION".  If we couldn't evolve we wouldn't be able to gain muscle strength.  Yes we've evolved, from man to man.  If we evolved from apes, that would mean we had to get smarter (because they're still stronger) or we would be extinct right.  Well why are there still apes on the planet if we "had" to evolve inorder to achieve survival.  Oh I get it only in certain parts of the world did the ape evolve right?  Believe what you want to believe, I don't debate with anyone anymore for there is no reward!  Believe in evolution, what you can put your hands on and deny the living savior....JUST DON'T DIE!!!

Big D, well put Bro!

I believe there is an inherant fear in some people that causes them to not seek the truth of Jesus Christ. I am not saying all non-Christians are afraid, I am saying that I see many non-Christians who, if they really grasp what the Bible teaches, will then have to admit that they are lost and going to spend eternity in Hell. That is part of what drove me to seek answers and spend years searching for spiritual truths. And only through accepting Jesus Christ as my personal savior did I fully receive peace, truth, and forgiveness, and a place in Heaven for eternity.

Excellent KS!

P.

I have read the bible, I have not studided it closely yet, but I have problems with it. To me it's like a treasure map, it looks good and a lot of people can tell me it is real but one of it's main components is missing in the real world the "X". The map says X marks the spot so I go and start digging for X only to find there is nothing in truth about X. There is no X where X should be so it leads me to belive the whole map is false.

The X of course is Jesus, there should be more mention of him yet there is not. I am not sure if he was real or not but I have found nothing to clearly show me he was and untill i can the whole concept of Christianity is debunked for me. But I still have time to search for the truth, I have seen many christians say it is never too late to accept jesus. I not really saying he never existed, but so far it seems very unlikley.

As an after thought, maybe I should look to other religons, who is to say one is correct and the others are not? But that is not really what i am looking into for the moment, and none of them really answer the how of it all which is what I am really intrested in. The whole religon thing is more of a side track to the real question, How does the universe work? I got a basic grasp of the most likely concept but still not all the answers and probally I never will but i would like to put a few pices of the puzzle together before i die.

Wow, Lot's of Biblical passages here... Shall I bust out some of my own? Cause obviously if it's written in the bible it MUST be So!

Correct? WWJD knows exactly where this is going... But by all means keep using the Bible to explain how the bible is the true word...

I'll keep using a Duck to explain why she's a witch!

God is REALLY worried about what you eat...

Couldn't possibly be a re-write because of fears or concerns about spoiled meat. Or lack of cold storage...

Leviticus 11 WEB
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them,

2 "Speak to the children of Israel, saying,'These are the living things which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth.

3 Whatever parts the hoof, and is cloven-footed, and chews the cud among the animals, that you may eat.

4 "'Nevertheless these you shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those who part the hoof: the camel, because he chews the cud but doesn't have a parted hoof, he is unclean to you.

5 The coney, because he chews the cud but doesn't have a parted hoof, he is unclean to you.

6 The hare, because she chews the cud but doesn't part the hoof, she is unclean to you.

7 The pig, because he has a split hoof, and is cloven-footed, but doesn't chew the cud, he is unclean to you.

8 Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch; they are unclean to you.

9 "'These you may eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, that you may eat.

10 All that don't have fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of all the living creatures that are in the waters, they are an abomination to you,

11 and you detest them. You shall not eat of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses.

12 Whatever has no fins nor scales in the waters, that is an abomination to you.

13 "'These you shall detest among the birds; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the vulture, and the black vulture,

14 and the red kite, any kind of black kite,

15 any kind of raven,

16 the horned owl, the screech owl, and the gull, any kind of hawk,

17 the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl,

18 the white owl, the desert owl, the osprey,

19 the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe, and the bat.

20 "'All flying insects that walk on all fours are an abomination to you.

21 Yet you may eat these: of all winged creeping things that go on all fours, which have legs above their feet, with which to hop on the earth.

22 Even of these you may eat: any kind of locust, any kind of katydid, any kind of cricket, and any kind of grasshopper.

23 But all winged creeping things which have four feet, are an abomination to you.

24 "'By these you will become unclean: whoever touches the carcass of them shall be unclean until the evening.

25 Whoever carries any part of their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.

26 "'Every animal which parts the hoof, and is not cloven-footed, nor chews the cud, is unclean to you. Everyone who touches them shall be unclean.

27 Whatever goes on its paws, among all animals that go on all fours, they are unclean to you. Whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening.

28 He who carries their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. They are unclean to you.

29 "'These are they which are unclean to you among the creeping things that creep on the earth: the weasel, the rat, any kind of great lizard,

30 the gecko, and the monitor lizard, the wall lizard, the skink, and the chameleon.

31 These are they which are unclean to you among all that creep. Whoever touches them when they are dead, shall be unclean until the evening.

32 On whatever any of them falls when they are dead, it shall be unclean; whether it is any vessel of wood, or clothing, or skin, or sack, whatever vessel it is, with which any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the evening; then it will be clean.

33 Every earthen vessel, into which any of them falls, all that is in it shall be unclean, and you shall break it.

34 All food which may be eaten, that on which water comes, shall be unclean; and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.

35 Everything whereupon part of their carcass falls shall be unclean; whether oven, or range for pots, it shall be broken in pieces: they are unclean, and shall be unclean to you.

36 Nevertheless a spring or a cistern in which water is a gathered shall be clean: but that which touches their carcass shall be unclean.

37 If part of their carcass falls on any sowing seed which is to be sown, it is clean.

38 But if water is put on the seed, and part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.

39 "'If any animal, of which you may eat, dies; he who touches its carcass shall be unclean until the evening.

40 He who eats of its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. He also who carries its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.

41 "'Every creeping thing that creeps on the earth is an abomination. It shall not be eaten.

42 Whatever goes on its belly, and whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet, even all creeping things that creep on the earth, them you shall not eat; for they are an abomination.

43 You shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creeps, neither shall you make yourselves unclean with them, that you should be defiled thereby.

44 For I am Yahweh your God. Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am holy: neither shall you defile yourselves with any kind of creeping thing that moves on the earth.

45 For I am Yahweh who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

46 "'This is the law of the animal, and of the bird, and of every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth,

47 to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the living thing that may be eaten and the living thing that may not be eaten.'"

dang, that puts a damper on eating out!! Better look a little closer at the menu and take a copy of this with me.

Whats happens if you work in the evening and touch something bad? Is it ok or will you be unclean untill the day, or unclean untill the next evening, or not unclean at all???

Pretty sure you are just unclean.
