Spring Bash ~ April 28-30

I have mine mounted vertical on the left hand exhast mount. I'm NOT drilling holes in my topgun tail. I'll take me chances with the popo and if I get a ticket i'll just keep it on me and say hey I don't have the tools available to relocate it and get away with just 1 ticket.

Moved the tag to the undertail lastnight. Not as painful a I thought to drill a couple of small holes in the underside. If I removed the mount you couldn't see the holes anyway. Besides, I can always plug them with some of them plastic push pins so that I'll always have extra on board and it would look factory matching the fastener/pins along the sides.

Hubby's laughing on the phone right now...he's been calling around, trying to find us a last minute room for Friday night...sounds like every place there is pretty old. Lots of "well, my grandmother owned this place" and "it hasn't been remodeled since the 1940s"

He secured a room for our group (looks like just 3 of us) at the Five Point Motel?

I won't be there this time guys. I've got a bad kidney infection and it hurts too much to even roll over in bed, much less ride a bike. I'm being treated and am getting better everyday. My luck.

Thanks.

I'm so sorry!!! Hope you heal fast and does this mean Ben won't be there either? Where are my VA guys?! *boo hoo*

So, on the plates issue...  My plate is mounted high on the stock mount, (Used the bottom 2 holes on the plate where normally the top 2 holes are used), and the upper lip of the plate is pressing against the LP light housing.  Still just as easy to read, am I safe?

Did I mention it needs to be that way to prevent (further) damage to the plate, due to my homemade undertail conversion?

This is for ALL people .... you only need to comply with your home state's requirements (where the vehicle is registered).

Go to their website and read the rules...or if you are too lazy for that...then get yourself pulled over and ask a LEO ....The highway patrol are your best bet....since their role is primarily traffic law enforcement.

It's tough to find anything on the georgia.gov site.
If this is all that Georgia says then to me I should be able to have a vertical swingarm mounted plate and be legal.  Since it says "Unless otherwise permitted under this chapter....". I wonder if there is another paragraph concerning tag placement somewhere else. I guess "visible at all times" covers lit at night. This is all I could  come up with but I don't want a ticket and be expected to have to return to argue it so I've moved it to the undertail.

"GEORGIA

40-2-41.
Unless otherwise permitted under this chapter, every vehicle required to be registered under this chapter, which is in use upon the highways, shall at all times display the license plate issued to the owner for such vehicle, and the plate shall be fastened to the rear of the vehicle in a position so as not to swing and shall be at all times plainly visible. No person shall display on the rear of a motor vehicle any temporary or permanent plate or tag not issued by the State of Georgia which is intended to resemble a license plate which is issued by the State of Georgia. The commissioner is authorized to adopt rules and regulations so as to permit the display of a license plate on the front of certain vehicles. It shall be the duty of the operator of any vehicle to keep the license plate legible at all times. No license plate shall be covered with any material unless the material is colorless and transparent. No apparatus that obstructs or hinders the clear display and legibility of a license plate shall be attached to the rear of any motor vehicle required to be registered in the state. Any person who violates any provision of this Code section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. "

According to ET Riders, someone asked what legal plate display amounted to. The answer was, "Not in your underseat storage area." Hmm, could be why the guy got a ticket. I think Greg B. is correct in his posting, "visible at all times." I couldn't find any info on Tn's website.

The cops are just tired of the punks sticking their tags way up under the inner fenderwell where you can't see them. If you tag is mounted however out in the open, you shouldn't get any flak from them

I know the tail of the bike looks better without a tag hanging from it, but it's just not worth the hassle it brings when you hide it. Mines been in the "normal" location since I put the undertail on my two week old Busa in '03, and even though it's never had a tag light I have never been stopped for improper display.
