Spring Bash ~ April 28-30

Has there been any discussion of a spring bash yet? Did a search but didn't find anything. Count me in...........

If you are coming and are not on the list, speak up... if you status changes let us know as well.  This one is shapin up to be the biggest yet

To recap:

Event:  Busa Bash IV  (thats right the 4th one!  )
Location: Deals Gap / Robbinsville NC
Host hotel: Phillips Hotel
Area Information: Tail website
Featured rides/events: the Dragon, Foothills Pkwy, Hwy 28/74, the skyway, blood mountain, CROT breakfasts, CROT, the campfire and frosty beverages

And LOTS of Hayabusas and plenty of other bikes

IF YOU HAVE NOT MADE RESERVATIONS YET   ----- DO IT NOW!

Obviously the Phillips is the choice hotel, see above for that info, however here are some options

MicroTel  - nice mainstream type of place, right around the corner from the Phillips

CROT "resort"  - sparcely appointed place, right at the center of the action, can be loud at night as it seems to attract the "younger crowd" but very safe and fun.  About 10-15min ride from the Phillips

If you need more info, look
ok, just to refresh the pages... here's the main post with all the info

GSXcite the last two times I have been there the weather has been great.I would say 70 to 75 during the day and maybe in the 50s at night. Sweatshirt around the fire maybe. A little cool in the morning for the first ride but not to bad. We are a week or so later this time so I would think it would be better.
We did have light frost in the early am last spring. It was fantastic during the day, but my night run over the Cherohala was a bit chilly.

And thanks for the comments on the shirts guys, once we get an idea of quantity needed, we can move forward with costs and all that jazz

Thanks guys, just trying to get an idea on what gear to bring. Looks like I'll just go with full leathers. I'll be trailering down, so not a problem packing extra stuff, but it sounds like it will not be too hot for the leather.

just dreaming about riding, to cold to do any. I would have loved to have rode with Jinkster today. O well, spring coming soon.

A ride with the Jinkster would have been great! Got up to a
high of 17 deg. here today. Do you guys have any idea what type of room # 103 at the Phillips is? Wish it was April!

I'm froze down again below Zero here.Perfect Busa riding weather. I wonder what wind chill is at 150 mph? Brisk I'm sure.

just remember to check those at the door at the bash

while I support some "smart" riding practices...

I hope we don't get so PC with this event that we turn it into a Shriner's Parade!

Although, I know some have mentioned bringing their children....I hope that most will be at least teens?

I am not spending a couple of thousand dollars, driving 650+ miles and using vacation time...so that I have to mind my P's&Q's.

This is an adult (although family freindly) website. Persons old enough to own and operate the Busa are the ones this event is geared towards...parents should remember that when planning to attend.

Some good food, good alcohol, good riding and good people are what I am loking forward to.

Man, I want to make this...... Looks like it is getting pretty big!

oh this is certainly not a gathering of church mice

The riding is spirited... the stories can be interesting and the camp fires are always a great amount of fun.

The checking your balls at the door refers to everyone riding with their heads in the area. We have had a few bad accidents and there *will* be several the weekend we are there. I have no issues with making that claim, the issue I have is that I do NOT want those accidents to involve *anyone* from this group. Thats why a few of us are pushing for smart riding. Once you have the lay of the land, I'm sure everyone will push their limits a little bit

and there has never been any issues with any of the kids that have been there before so I seriously doubt it will be an issue this time.

oh yeah, I dont recommend trying to keep up with twinkletoes

As far as "Checking your balls at the door" - I couldnt agree more. Ive Never been to the Dragon, but have rode several long distance trips including covering almost 4000 miles in 4 days. And I learned a few things along the way. First off if you start your tip off like a Rocket, well it wont be long before you crash & burn. You have to pace yourself physically & mentally for a long distance trip. Get plenty of sleep a few days before a long trip, and gear up accordingly. Don't get tunnel vision while riding, and that is easy to do...keep looking around and dont focus too long on one spot in the road.

Sure a person can cover 140 miles in an hour...but if you think about it, or ever done it, traveling those speeds on the Hwy is about as exhausting as running 10 miles when your out of shape. Becareful not to follow the flow of traffic for too long, people will forget you are there and cagers traveling also fall a sleep, and do strange things while driving. If riding at night, becareful for deer, and other animals...I swear they come out of know where. If a collision is unavoidable with a deer...trust me on this one...aim straight for the middle and dont slow down - hit the thing than deal with the damage situation after...if you lock your brakes up your in for some trouble.

Let your friends or family know your route, give them a map & call them from time to time...so they know your on course. If you do crash in the middle of know where and out cold, and your family doesnt hear from ya in sometime they can call the Hwy Patrol and give them the time of your last communication, route of travel, etc...giving you some chance of being found....its funny how you can be 10 feet off the Hwy with cagers rolling by you and they dont even notice.

Use your common sense, and for gosh sake eat properly and avoid drugs and mind altering drugs while riding. I dont mean to sound like a nag, but just because you ride in the city day in and day out...it doesn't mean that your a master of the Hwy. You can meet some very cool people and see some very neat things while traveling, just be prepared for the trip & leave the Ego in the garage before you even start up your bike for the trip.

Valium.. you are getting me excited for the trip.

any word as of now?

i like your post..

oh....and for those that have chatterbox or similar...bring'em!

if you have that "other brand" ...then you'll need something like the little motorola talk-abouts (it will plug into your units with the right cable.)....to get on the same channels as the chattebox people.
if you care.

My daughter goes everywhere with me. She has been to the last 2 Bashes with me and everyone has treated her with the upmost respect. She has been to Road Atlanta to the races and Kevin ( VMAN ) invited her to his track day at R.A and she was welcomed by everyone. I hope everyone remembers to treat all the future younger riders with respect because im sure there will be some younger ones attending.

Tim.
