I heard that......

Every one should be able to have a good time at this years bash. No mater what their age. There will be some kind of anouncment coming about Friday nights fireside get to gather. The dragon will bite those balls if you let them hang out to far. The bash has always been a PC deal it just depends whos rule book you follow.I have never met a more right bunch of people. I cant wait to get there. How many days is it again?

I can't wait, this will be my first trip to the dragon and I look forward to meeting everyone. I'll be stayin' at the 2 wheel inn on thursday night and saturday night, microtel on friday night. it's gonna be a blast

As far as "Checking your balls at the door" - I couldnt agree more. Ive Never been to the Dragon, but have rode several long distance trips including covering almost 4000 miles in 4 days. And I learned a few things along the way. First off if you start your tip off like a Rocket, well it wont be long before you crash & burn. You have to pace yourself physically & mentally for a long distance trip. Get plenty of sleep a few days before a long trip, and gear up accordingly. Don't get tunnel vision while riding, and that is easy to do...keep looking around and dont focus too long on one spot in the road.

Sure a person can cover 140 miles in an hour...but if you think about it, or ever done it, traveling those speeds on the Hwy is about as exhausting as running 10 miles when your out of shape. Becareful not to follow the flow of traffic for too long, people will forget you are there and cagers traveling also fall a sleep, and do strange things while driving. If riding at night, becareful for deer, and other animals...I swear they come out of know where. If a collision is unavoidable with a deer...trust me on this one...aim straight for the middle and dont slow down - hit the thing than deal with the damage situation after...if you lock your brakes up your in for some trouble.

Let your friends or family know your route, give them a map & call them from time to time...so they know your on course. If you do crash in the middle of know where and out cold, and your family doesnt hear from ya in sometime they can call the Hwy Patrol and give them the time of your last communication, route of travel, etc...giving you some chance of being found....its funny how you can be 10 feet off the Hwy with cagers rolling by you and they dont even notice.

Use your common sense, and for gosh sake eat properly and avoid drugs and mind altering drugs while riding. I dont mean to sound like a nag, but just because you ride in the city day in and day out...it doesn't mean that your a master of the Hwy. You can meet some very cool people and see some very neat things while traveling, just be prepared for the trip & leave the Ego in the garage before you even start up your bike for the trip.

I know a group that is going from Marietta, OH on the morning of the 27th.  Back roads down from what I hear.  1 Busa, an FJR and a Guzzi.

Good luck on the work thing

My daughter goes everywhere with me. She has been to the last 2 Bashes with me and everyone has treated her with the upmost respect. She has been to Road Atlanta to the races and Kevin ( VMAN ) invited her to his track day at R.A and she was welcomed by everyone.  I hope everyone remembers to treat all the future younger riders with respect because im sure there will be some younger ones attending.

Tim.
Well said and...the elderly Phillips Motel owners treat us very well and let us have fires and cook, have cold brews, and carry-on in their front yard. Doing so, we make a bit of a mess and we clean it up which = mutual respect. Burn-out/Wheelie parties can usually be found at the DG Resort.

As for riding, each to his/her own. Some like to rip the roads and some like to cruise. Some prefer to choose their own time and place for solo rips without "group pressure". The local scenery and road challenges are exceptional. There's a place for everyone.

Note: The Deal's Gap Dragon is a real twisty road with some surprising decreasing-radius curves that WILL BITE the unprepared or unfocused rider. The Cherohola Skyway is more of a high-speed sweeper road. Of the two roads statistically, most bike fatalities occur on the Skyway and it is frequently monitored by LEO's.

I'm anxious to see my old friends again and meet new ones (A LOT OF NEW ONES THIS TIME).

Everybody goes home healthy!!!

Personally, I enjoy sane group rides but if it's gotta be a 100+ MPH run, just let me know and I'll head for the DG porch and laugh at the squids. When I rail on the Busa, it's only when I choose.

Den Mother....Bahaaaa...man, if you only knew me...lol
Just messing with ya Valium. Seeing how we have maybe one road here in Kansas(Wichita) that actually has a turn or two I will probably be with the slower group anyway. Love my bike and walking too much to get carried away.
Just looking forward to meeting all the members that are going and drinking a beer or two next to the camp fire. As far as the mohawk goes it had to get cut off once weather warmed up and started to ride some. Too much a pain in the ass with helmet

I thought everyone around Wichita rode Harleys? No helmet law and checkerboard road layout. No need for a sportbike. Where was that curve you mentioned, on I35?

just remember to check those at the door at the bash

while I support some "smart" riding practices...

I hope we don't get so PC with this event that we turn it into a Shriner's Parade!

Although, I know some have mentioned bringing their children....I hope that most will be at least teens?

I am not spending a couple of thousand dollars, driving 650+ miles and using vacation time...so that I have to mind my P's&Q's.

This is an adult (although family freindly) website.  Persons old enough to own and operate the Busa are the ones this event is geared towards...parents should remember that when planning to attend.

Some good food, good alcohol, good riding and good people are what I am loking forward to.
Hmmmmm......does this mean we should cancel the Cherokee Shriners Escadrille Parade on Saturday?
