I read through the 43 pages of this post but somehow missed the important stuff. Whom do I need to talk to about getting hooked up with a place to stay? There seems to be several group rates and stuff going on. I would really like to meet up with everyone for this event. I have rode the Dragon once on a 1979 Yamaha XS 1100. Can not wait to ride it on a Busa. I will ride down from Nashville, TN.

CPU, Go up toward the top of the page to the post by Warbaby and click on the attendance link. Should help you out. There will be several guys rolling your way you could hook up with. My group is coming down from northern Ill., and we should be going through your area sometime Thurs aft. We will be pulling a trailer and most likely have some riders along too. Should be some places for you to stay still, and I'm sure you could find somewhere to share a space. We may have a place to stay, it depends on one of our guys work situation.

I'm riding down from Mason, Ohio, on the 28th more than likely.  Anyone that wants to hang around me, (I can't do over 100 and I intend to go the whole way on a single tank of gas...

) is welcome to.

Mapquest quotes 350 miles, so I figure about 5 hours travel time. Anyone that's been to the Gap wanna tell me if this is accurate, and will it take me through the Gap on the way down?

yep, straight through the gap... you riding or trailering

Have fun bringing any kinda load through the gap...I would suggest trying to time it for early evening or early morning if possible if you are pulling a trailer. If you are going to be on the bike, I would *HIGHLY* recommend you stop at either the lake before heading up the gap or at the overlook on your way through. You will want to be fully awake/alert in the gap, so if you are riding through, take a few mins to collect yourself

I'll be riding, of course. No trailer to haul with.

It's just that my bike can't do much more than 100 for long periods. My plan is to draft cars the whole way down.

BusaCruise, is there any census on what freq. to use in the Gap? I might bring my programable radio.

I think it' really going to be a matter of what's clear once we get there.
I like to choose obscure channels...I'll see what mine is set to already...perhaps that will work as well as it did the last time I was there.

You can change my haybus and an FZ1 to a show from the maybe list. I'm tempted to take a week and head to Barber for the races and then on up to the Gap...........If only I could win one of them thar lotteries!!

I have reserved room 102 at the Phillips for the 27th. I will ride down that day and plan on staying the night on the 27th and 28th. The 28th is depending on if I can find a bed. The Phillips is booked that night. Maybe someone will have an extra bed or someone will cancel. I might even stay the 29th if I can find a bed. I will be riding from Clarksville, Tn through Nashville etc. Should take me 5 - 6 hours. Anyone else going that direction on that day?

I'm pretty sure Warbaby is heading down that path but probably 2-4 days ahead of ya

As for rooms, check the San Ran and Microtel.. they are literally walking distance from the Phillips

Den Mother....Bahaaaa...man, if you only knew me...lol
Just messing with ya Valium. Seeing how we have maybe one road here in Kansas(Wichita) that actually has a turn or two I will probably be with the slower group anyway. Love my bike and walking too much to get carried away.
Just looking forward to meeting all the members that are going and drinking a beer or two next to the camp fire. As far as the mohawk goes it had to get cut off once weather warmed up and started to ride some. Too much a pain in the ass with helmet
super.gif
I thought everyone around Wichita rode Harleys? No helmet law and checkerboard road layout. No need for a sportbike. Where was that curve you mentioned, on I35?
race.gif
Yea mostly the on off ramps
biggrin.gif
. Have one road they call thunder raod that has a few turns on it but thats about it. Unless Waterbug can show me some I don;t know about.

Try 96 highway going toward Hutch. I think if you're doing 193 or 195 mph it wll seem like some tight curves! HAHA!!

I lived there for my first 26 years......my parents have a farm on 96 hwy. I know how boring the roads can be in Kans. You're going to LOVE this trip to the Smokies!
