Spring Bash ~ April 28-30

Nextel is almost non-fuctional everywhere around Robbinsville, unless they've installed some towers since last summer. If you ride up to the overlook and lean on one of the poles, it will work. True story.

Yes he is. He's a George Foreman grill fan too.

just a reminder....chatter box units if you have them....or most any other comm-set that can plug into something like an FRS radio will work too.

and does anyone use Sprint's RL feature? just curious.

On this note, I've been on the lookout for a system that has stereo speakers for the helmet, a mic that mounts in the helmet, and allows you to listen to mp3/radio, answer cell phone, or use a 2-way radio, with a handlebar mounted PTT switch.

Preferably bargain basement cheap.

Is Sprint's RL similar to Nextel's two-way service?

the gmrs X1 from chatterbox will run you about 240.00 from solomotorparts.com (site sponsor) ...and it includes all what you are asking, plus has transmitter to talk to other bikes.
They offer lesser versions without the transmitter for just input type scenarios or pilot to passenger communication.

then there is autocom which is also very versatile with the inputs...but lacks a transmitter. However, you CAN add a motorola frs radio to the setup and be right in the game with the chatterbox folks...you only need to match the channel they are on.
You might even be able to pick up some '05 stuff for 1/2 price still.

there are a couple of others out there like Baer and some other one...but they can run you an easy grand by the time you integrate everything....rediculous.

and yes the Sprint RL is just like the DC for Nextel

Hey Paul, How ya doin ?

As a few of you know, I recently had to sell my `Busa due to back problems aggravated by the Busas' forward riding position but...I plan to be at the Bash on a just-released `06 Aprilia Tuono 1000R that, ironically, is arriving at a western NC dealer next week. It's mine.
biggrin.gif
Naked, upright position, 408 lbs. dry and 133 HP V-twin. See y`all there...

Warbaby...That imho is "The Bike" for the gap and surrounding areas...you're gonna be handing us all our A$$e$ on that thing in rapid fashion...well?...except for maybe Vman...but know this brother...your are my friend...and friends don't give a flying fudge what other friends ride...as long as it makes them feel good and at our age?...comfy...as everybodys bones have had a wide variety of abuse levels over time...he11...I'm a former marine and past fitness nut...I'll be 48 in a few months but there's mornings I feel like I'm freaking 68...that Tuono is das shid...and I know I don't hafta tell you but...GREAT choice....great choice indeed.

I remember this day...

Thanks for the kind words Jinks!

The Tuono's got me plenty stoked. Since you mentioned it, from my view, trying to be the quickest is largely delusional--there's always a "Rossi" lurking somewhere. Been there, enjoyed it, and evolved. I've balled my share of tires and, with a little luck (and a lot of restraint), I'll ball a few more...competing with myself.

I also remember that excellent day of riding in the pic and look forward to more of it SOON Brother Bill.

You know Tom, the more I look at that fine machine, I just can see your face after the 1st pass up the hill...the huge smile that could not be knocked off your face with a 2 x 4......

I'll pick it up next week in NC and stop at the Dragon for a day or two of break-in (just to make sure the roads are in good order for the Bash

I went today on the ST1100.....Right at 300 miles today.

Awsome weather with just morning fog and damp roads until the sun came out...

folks lets make sure we comment in the thread about registration. We need to know who is coming and what they want at the event. There will be a deadline for tshirts posted shortly as we need to get them printed
wink.gif

Also stay tuned to the registration thread for any possible changes, including the paypal address. To complicate the issue of changing jobs over the weekend I sold my house today....how does that commercial go ... "life comes at you quickly

"

Attention all attendees

Please read the registration thread. Please no comments here about the events of the past weekend.

Lets all stay positive and continue to plan for the Bash.

Looks like supplies will be needed, so if we can coordinate some system for who can bring along what, that would be great...

Plates, cups, forks, etc...

Thanks vman, for taking over here...
