Was this a Racial Slur?

Did you read the thread?
The part where some white trash dude popped off some racial slur and lost his job?
Or the part whereOP doesn’t think it was a slur?
Or were you talking about something else?

I don’t think words are worth getting pissed about. It just empowers the words and gives the fool sayin those words more power over you.

The whole thing. Because if you had, I think you'd understand that it's not about "getting butt hurt" or "giving people power", it's about what that word represents. Centuries of oppression, misery, brutality and death. The words we use matter. We must choose them carefully.

Sadly, many do get upset over certain words and these words have had power behind them for several generations and more to come. Be a lot better world if this were not true, racial hatred is a very powerful thing.

When I was typing I saw a post in queue....figures it was your post.....as usual we get the same idea almost at the same time....

I don't expect an answer.

...and here we go.....destroying a city/town will not solve anything...when will the protesters learn this.

-Jeremy, I know you don't want an answer but I don't care for either to be honest.

There is absolutely no need for any cop to be in that position over a person in custody...I've seen black cops in the same position on police shows I watch and I cringe every time I see this being done-no need for it.

What needs to be done is the police academies need to take this out of their training package and have on-going training to ensure this sort of thing ceases to happen-of course this is a pipe dream and not reality.

We talk about the "strategic soldier" in the military-this is the actions of one soldier who alters the perception in the eyes of others as to what the mission is to accomplish. Many times it is the uninitiated soldier who doesn't have the whole tactical and strategic picture who does this.

This police officer is the "strategic police officer" in this case.

Ole kapp wasn’t doin poop. That’s what America is all about, freedom to express yourself. He wasn’t hurtin anyone. But people were gettin butthurt about it.
homie on the right is committing murder...
Police training as a whole is laughable and they focus on assault and self protection over serve and protect.
not sayin all cops are poop but the bad ones are a virus and their actions spread throughout and infect the other officers.

I agree and disagree, both our nations definitely need policing (and in some cases more of it). The world is changing and not for the better. Police training is robust although this technique needs to go and go right now.

Bad apples are in every basket and if left unchecked create the "Strategic Police Officer" I talked about before. All it takes is one action of one individual to set the standard for all the rest...that police force could have had 100,000 arrests without incident but all it takes is one incident for a negative perception.

Police react to situations, they are shot, stabbed, physically and verbally abused and deal with people on all kinds of crazy drugs who turn into super humans where it takes a bunch of them to get them into custody all under the microscope.

I sure wouldn't want to be a cop.

I agree with you, but what I highlighted happens very infrequently. There are more dangerous jobs than police officer, roofer and logger among them. You know better than most folks that an imminent threat of danger is not an acceptable excuse for violating the law.
The move away from guardian policing to the warrior cop mentality has been the driving force behind the type of behavior seen in the Minnesota video. There is no need, absolutely none, to continue kneeling on that man's neck. All the other officers who where derelict in their duty to stop that officer from doing that are equally morally responsible.

I'm going to call B.S. on this killer cop thing. As we all know, only the smallest tip of the iceberg is in view above the water. Cops are committing murder in plain view, knowing people are watching and probably video taping it - often. That is an act of terror, that's why someone would do this so brazenly.
I hear that a cop has a right to get home at the end of the day and I certainly agree. But I watch cops take white terrorists (who have actually shot at the arresting officers) safely into custody so they get their constitutionally guaranteed day in court. Then, they publicly execute an already subdued black suspect who is unarmed, suspected of committing a non-violent crime and has willingly allowed them to cuff him?

While I certainly agree not all cops are bad, it is a historical fact that a certain portion of law enforcement has played the role of oppressing the black & brown communities since reconstruction. This has taken many forms including slave patrols, coordination with the Klan, aggressive enforcement of Jim Crow Laws, intimidation of travelers (ever heard of the Green Book?), and it appears now public executions on Youtube. I know a lot of you here will not like this, but if you look at the facts objectively the only conclusion you can draw is there is and has been for most of our country's history a significant effort by law enforcement to oppress certain communities in the United States of America. While there maybe only a few officers doing the atrocities, there are a lot of officers facilitating it behind the "blue wall".

Many will say the classic "if you don't like it leave" or "let's see who you call the next time you need help". To those people I say what would you say if we were constantly catching black cops publicly executing defenseless white people?

As for riots, what else can they do? This sort of event would be forgotten as soon as the networks stop getting ratings showing the execution. Each time it happens we would look on with outrage then forget it happened, only to start the outrage process again a month later when the next incident happens. It is curious that a lot of the protesters are white. Maybe it's pinned up frustrations from COVID, I hope these are not instigators. What do you do when the police are the killer and the general population don't feel like it's something that needs to be addressed?

All kinds of ways to look at this...
Pic on the right side has a minimum of 500 upcoming posts.

….look at how deep this divide goes even on this small forum, multiply this by millions and the divide grows even larger.

We have our race issues here in Canada but they pale in comparison to what is in the US thankfully for us.

I watch Live PD each week and see all kinds of things on there. I saw a person (suspect) spouting off racially charged ideology against the police who were all black except one officer. The black police officers finally had enough and told him he has the right to remain silent and they really wished he would use that right.

Each time I see the knee in neck hold down technique, I always think that it should be eliminated from use. I've seen it used by police officers of all races against suspects of all races...

In a situation where an officer acting alone needs to apply handcuffs, and only until the cuffs are applied, is one thing. What that officer did should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law in my opinion. That was murder.
