southern side of the equator to you all , ( Adelaide , South Australia ) 38deg C ( centigrade). ===100 F. to you , sure looks cold and harsh in Texas and other areas , it’s hard to watch. , given how hot it is here at the moment , easy to say but. stay warm

We had two days @ 15 degrees here . Last Time I experienced a teen temp of 17 degrees I was 17 in Baytown Texas 1989 . Read where we were colder than Alaska currently . South Texas is not tooled up for this at all . However I was prepared as usual , and only repaired broken plumbing of neighbors .
We own no snow blowers / plows / sand trucks / salt trucks . They do have chemicals for the bridges , but they last for one day not 6 , and we didnt have enough of it . Today was my first day back to work . Most places have been closed . Commercial buildings are flooded from damage / broken pipes .

I heard it was really cold down there but...

26f this morning . Last hard freeze day for us . I'll share some photos later .
Has this weather condition ever happened before in these areas of Texas?

We in the cold country take all we have for granted. I for instance live in a house with central air, a robust furnace and back up generator...(on well and septic).

Not this long in South Texas Bill .
Now one more night in the news for us .
28 tonight then back on 50s and 66 Sunday.
Lots of ice on roads this morning.
I know this is nothing compared to the North but it would be like you guy's experience 100 percent humidity while hitting 102 degrees F . Hard to deal with .

I wasn't sure if this was something that happened from time to time.....

A real tough thing to deal with when the population is prepared for it.

We can get some pretty crazy weather here sometimes as well but for the most part are prepared.

The pooches look like they are having fun though.

Hi glad your are OK! The coldest I ever stayed outside in a tent was -14.

Hi. I did have a -20 degree sleeping bag +a fleece liner. I have a camp 1.5 miles in the woods by the pond little Quittacas look it up on Wikipedia. I do not like camping in a trailer. I like sleeping on the ground # 1 and then a tent # 2, but the ground is best.
I can't remember the last time I went camping in a civilian setting...

I have slept out in an improvised shelter and tents lots of time in very cold conditions while serving...not a huge fan.

Who ever thinks sleeping on the ground is better than inside a tent is NUTS! I’ve done both in a nice warm army ‘mummy bag‘ and inside (any) shelter is better than the cold hard ground. Got in 175 Smiles today and although it was in the mid 50s, it was a cold ride. Not really uncomfortable but cold. The ground is still soaked on either side of the two lane and it’s chilly riding thru the countryside. Mostly overcast with patchy sun spots. All the cattle and horses were on higher ground. Several dead animals this trip. Squirrels, skunks, a raccoon, a small deer and a coyote. Mostly hits at night I suppose. I only see squirrels running across in front of me. I think they’re actually playing with us!

Krap, we've got around a foot of wet, heavy snow with more falling by the minute...by the time I got the driveway blown out there was 3 inches of fresh stuff on it already....

To think this morning it was sunny and nice out....
