What Did You Do To Your Busa, Today?

06 was a good year! Mine has almost 70,000 miles on it so far, thru eleven western states. Yours looks pretty stock. Can’t tell by the pic but do you have a clip style master link? I’d change that if true. We’ve heard about shipping costs for those not in the US and it (is) ridiculous. Welcome!

It is a riveted master link, but I do need to replace the chain and sprockets. Just saving some money for that. Any recommendations regarding brands and or models?

I put not long ago a double bubble, and K&N air filter. I plan in the future install some home modded lowered pegs (we do not have buell footpegs here in Banana Republic) and raise the bars. I will post pictures of the results.

Ah, by the way, parts are expensive here not only because of high shipping costs, but also due to extremely high import taxes and the exchange rate ( Dollar to Reais). Currently, with one dollar you can buy more than five Reais. Any US$100,00 part will cost us more than R$500,00, which is quite a lot.

The minimum wage here is around R$1000,00/month. So yeah, extremely expensive.

I'm lower middle class, and to me it's very hard to pay for all the costs. Not even in my wildest dreams I would be able to afford some of the awesome mods I see here in the forum. You guys are very lucky.

I do love riding, I really love my bike, so I'll just keep going, what can one do, huh?

Thanks man. He keeps asking me when will he be able to ride with me, he loves the bike.

My grand daughter is just awaiting the day when she can ride with me...so I feel you.

As for the clip style master link, I've used one on several bikes and they lasted the life of the chain with no problems so no great big rush on that one. I went with Super Sprox steel sprockets (I like the strength of steel) and it has an RK X ring Gold chain (not cheap).

Welcome! Thought about getting that bike myself. Before you know it you will have been on this forum so long that your son will be old/big enough to ride your Busa himself. :D

You don’t use a clip link on your 180hp Busa though right?

No, only because it came without one, I wouldn't have a problem using one though. I've never heard of one coming apart if it was put on properly.

-EDIT-
I stand corrected-never really did a whole lot of research on the subject-just used them and if the clip type came with my old 530 chain, I'd use it (then). Here is a video from RK on the subject.

I have seen a post on here where someone did use the clip type on their busa and actually just safety wired the link and said they had no issues. Can't remember exactly who it was but he was a well known member of the org. I just put a new chain on my buddies crf450x and the chain came with both style masters so I was gonna go with the rivet but somehow when trying to flare it the pin on my d.i.d tool cracked so I was stuck using the clip style but being a dirt bike i figured no big deal and I'm keeping my fingers crossed since I still don't have any safety wire tools.

The video even said the clips are more for dirt bike type applications. I've used clips in the past on some street bikes I had-but not since the early '90s...

Today I went to the local gas station to fill up the Busa ready for a ride with my 2 riding buddies.
I started the bike and it idled for a few seconds then stopped running.
The FI light was flashing but I never had a wire to bridge the connector pins to read the fault code darn it! I cranked it for a while but did not fire at all
Soooooo . . . . I started to push the bike home (about 1 km) and something weird happened . . lying on the roadside in front of me was a iphone,
I picked it up, it had the screensaver running so it was live but with a badly cracked screen from hitting the road hard.
I put it in my tail bag thinking I'll see if I can return it to the owner after I get home and get my bike's fault sorted.
I get pushing again and within 100 yards a little yellow car pulls up on the other side of the road and a woman yells out " have you seen an iphone on the road??" I replied "Yes! here it is here!", she jumped out and ran over to me in tears, hugged me and told me she was panicked because that phone contained photos of her little girl that she had no copies of, and was relieved to get it back.
So that was my good deed, she asked for my phone number so she could 'pay it forward' in some way . . . . yes, I'm waiting with baited breath for that call . . .
Anyway, here comes the bit you have all been waiting for . .
the fault code was C41, fuel pump issue.
After checking a few things, turned out to be a blown fuse for the fuel pump circuit.
The fuse was an inferior 'crap quality chinese POS' so I replaced it with a good quality NARVA 10amp fuse, all back to normal!
I've checked all the wiring and connections in the fuel pump circuit . . all OK.
I can only deduce from this situation that that woman needed that phone back soooooooo badkly that the Universe set in motion this chain of events to enable me to find her phone and return it to her!
What d'y'all think? Am I crazy or what? lol.

That's awesome @Kiwi Rider

I did nothing at all to my busa today. I looked at my chain and sprocket on Revzilla and tried to check out Schnitz for a couple parts but the site wouldn't load. The whole internet is dead, it's cold and damp here and I'm going to bed at 5 pm. Have a restful evening everyone.

It seems to always be something simple to fix thankfully-glad you got the 'ol girl up and running..

Ya never know, maybe that woman has a grand mother or something who needs a date...

What the ???
Why, I oughtta . . . .
Grandmother?? You insolent little boomer!
Well, I suppose I am a Grandad myself, sooooooooo . . . . .
Anyway, yep, ALWAYS start the diagnosis process by checking the most basic and most accessible components first.
I'm still curious about the cause of that blown fuse, nothing obvious came from all the checks apart from a very crappy looking blade fuse that blew.
Hmmmmmm . . .

The only problem I ever had with the 99 was a blown fuse......it's always a relief when it's something simple.:beerchug:Looking forward to the "climax" of the pay it forward story.

Hi. I have spent the day looking at turbos Xona Rotor and Garrett the G 42-1200. I have also been looking at wastgates and blow off vales. Does anyone rap there turbo in a blanket? I am also looking at the Pirelli Super Corsa tire in the 200/70/17 size.

I have fuses on lawnmowers blow regularly without explanation all the time, I just chalk it up to the same as you did just cheap fuses.
