How bout a pic from a lil farther away showing the whole bike?

Finally got the sucker all put back together ... correctly, I hope

Tested Steering Damper
Fresh Fork Oil (Motul 5w)
New Fork Seals/Dust Caps/Fork Cap o-ring (OEM)

Love/Hate fork work.
Intended to pull the spring, cartridge, but the fork compressor bumped up against the tube itself before the spring was compressed enough to expose the locking nut. WTF?? I have no idea, but that meant I couldn't measure the new oil in with the syringe tool (Motion Pro). And that meant I had to reverse-guess oil amount.

So I poured old oil out into measure cylinder (524 ml). Smelled awful ... like fish oil, as promised: props to @Berlin Germany ... then pumped and pumped (and pumped) the cartridge to get as much oil out as possible [ props to @Twobrothersbusa et al for this tutorial ], then used 526 ml fresh oil back in. I figured this would work out to a +/- 1% error margin (or less) , depending how much oil remained inside the fork assembly. Something I will never know, which is why I hated this job.

Compounded, glazed and Carnuba all the plastic while it was off the bike + the tank itself (waiting for parts/tools to arrive). Pics tomorrow but only because it'll be another year before she looks this clean again.

My 2 favorite days during this project were the day I started and the day I finished. In theory I could let the forks go another 8 yrs before service. Unless I love the feel/response when I take it for a canyon ride, then I'll be doing this every other yr.

I am glad this project is done
I guessed when torquing the fork caps back down, which is 24mm. I had a 21, 22, 23, 25, but no 24 socket. Hated that too.

I hate guessing

p.s. @Mythos re: the pitbull headstand pin...it was in the right way. Loved that!!

I posted a good video on how to do front forks, I watched it (took the laptop out to the garage) and did mine and it worked pretty good with no issues..

The pieces fit perfectly too which I like...and they are feathers compared to the original.

I had black pods on the front at one time and I didn't like the look...they looked like they were stuck on there.

I WAS also thinkin of getting a complete CF nose cone and only keeping the side fairings yellow...
What front pods dude, those rear pods look really good Ill be going that route with mine

Fitted 25mm higher dogbones, replaced the mid fairings with spares as fitted R&G crash bungs, removed all the decals and started flatting and polishing bodywork. I think it may be 'too' black now so maybe get just the Kanjis back on but not sure on colour! More machine polishing together ad going to do trunk mod (trash can in garage pic) also got a gps device to fit to brake light that activates brake light whe it detects a slowing of bike, ie sitting up suddenly. Need to change to carbon cans as well ad got some cheap rearsets coming.

I wouldn’t stress about carbon wheels and road surfaces, the new generation of BST’s are ten fold better than the originals. I’ve ridden down some poop house roads that nearly impale the balls into the tank, wheels are still perfect 38,000kms later.
BST Carbon Wheels are sooooooo strong now ,they hold 100% and can been ridden with BLOWN TYRE

My Busa found Great Grandpa at my mates workshop , so thought I would get a couple of pics together . The '99 is a customers from Queensland , has 20,000 km on it , leaking fork seal and a couple of small issues , but will be a nice machine to own once it has been gone over .

That black Busa is awesome, but I see you didn't park too close, so not to be overshadowed, lol.
It's hard to beat a stock 99 copper
iconic
great pics

I still have the B-King, the naked Gen-1 Streetfighter and the long term faired Gen-1 build and a few other non-Busa related.

My bikes are all hidden, locked away in storage. I sold my house, moved into a little rental place and will spend the rest of the year building my retirement house. The place im building already has a little shed that I’m starting to prep for the bikes so it’s keeping me busy…
