What Did You Do To Your Busa, Today?

Took a lil ride to test the valve adjustment (all in spec) so I don’t know why it’s even required. This makes just three valve checks in 62,000+ miles and they’re always in spec. They sure built them right in 06. It’s ninety DAMN four outside and it’s just 12:44 so I’m back home under the A/C.
Same sort of interval for my Bandit, I still went in and checked but all valves were at spec...a mechanic friend of mine said to wait until you could hear a slight tick, then go in. Although I just got it and it's used, the Busa's engine is whisper quiet.

The one thing against that theory is when a valve tightens up. Loose is better (and) audible. With a valve that has gotten too tight you won’t hear a thing until BOOM. Sure is nice to know the ‘gamble ‘ in checking them far after the manufacturer’s recommendation usually pays off. Hope my luck continues.

...well.....there is that "boom" thing I guess...the valve cover doesn't look too hard to get at on this thing at least...probably easier than my Bandit.

One good thing, in 12 years and 3 checks, this is the first new gasket I’ve bought. Threw in a new set of plugs too. Ynot?!

Glad I dont have to deal with inspections every year.
We don't have them every year up here, just after you purchases one. The bike was in pretty decent shape, just had to do new sprockets, chain, rear brakes and a little ghetto RTV fix on the infamous oil line going from the top of the engine to the bottom, the crimp on the bottom of the line has a pinhole leak. I've got a new line on order though, RTV is a terrible fix, but it got me through inspection.

Well that's good. We dont do emissions or inspections here in Georgia. Hell, I could drop a 350 crate engine into a Miata or even better a Hayabusa engine into a Smart car and the state wont care.

Ordered these last week. Should be here tomorrow. I'm kinda concerned that they will send me the TT rear sets instead of the D-Axis pieces seeing as I paid way less than what these retail for. Hopefully I luck out. Will post pics when they come in.

That's my next step after chain and sprockets. Gonna change all non painted plastics with carbon fiber.
For giggles, I researched the carbon bits for the Busa bike....there are quite a few but one would have to have deep pockets to do them all...

Sounds like my wife will know what to get me for Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, etc for the next while.....

I will have to be careful to not damage the Brembo front brake lever, they are pricey to replace..

Yeah I started browsing and saw ASV makes a shorty lever for the Brembo master cylinder....

....very tempting.
