Tetge- I miss your stories with Brakelate. Update us where you guys are at now.
Just cause the shack is gone don't mean we don't want to hear it.
Thanks, me and Brakelate have sort of drifted away from the board since we were not sure exactly where our reports should be filed. In fact, we have expropriated part of our local Southern California Mustang message board and we are posting our stories there, since the truth has to be told.
But, since you ask ( I am #216 & Brakelate #236):
This is a true account of a ride I went on today with my Hayabusa. Brakelate and I went out to scuff in our new rear tires. I had a new Bridgestone BT-56 OEM tire and he had a new Shinko 003R. Although they were both 190/50 sized, his tire appeared much larger.
The report is that some how, Brakelate must have got some wires crossed because on the way back down from Wrightwood, where we checked out all the snow and skiers, he drifted off into some other universe and decided that we were at Road Atlanta and it was a regulation road race. I did my best to keep him in sight, even though my tire was sliding and my brakes were fading. From the bits and glimpses of him in action that I observed, it seems that his new inexpensive Shinko Korean motorcycle tire must work pretty well. But, it is apparent that he needs to find a crew to ride with who ride faster than I can. It is a shame that he has to constantly slow down and wait because I am so slow.
Hopefully there will be some other bikers who check in on this thread and who will be able to ride at Brakelate's pace.
After the ride, I was extremely grateful to still be alive. There was run off and rocks and loose sand and gravel and Coyotes and SUV's and ice and snow on the road. But we checked and he had NO chicken strips at all on his new back tire and I had big GIANT chicken strips on my back tire, but it is sufficiently scuffed in the middle so that I can go to LACR Saturday
And from Saturday:
LACR Sat, Part II of the Friday ride
I was owned, big time. And Brakelate even brings a pit crew and a camera crew to the strip, since he is a pro and he has groupies. I need to lose 50 pounds stat to even things up. The ZX-12R just has too much for me. It almost makes me want to remove my center stand and put the lower fairing back on and reduce the bike's weight as much as possible. But, no, I just need to lose 50 pounds, and I will be right there. We weighed both bikes and both bikes with their riders with all their gear, and the Kawasaki is substantially lighter than the Hayabusa with or without rider. Maybe tonight I can bring myself to scan some evidence.
