Then out over the Coast Range to the Pacific Coast back into the cool ocean air on Branscomb Rd

Plus the requisite stop in the defunct logging town of Branscomb

Hey Joel, when was the last time gas was 69 cents a gallon?

At the very top of the range is Graffiti Hill

Kinda self explanatory why we call it that.

But the race was on to get out to the Pacific Coast & out of the inland heat. The temps drop as much as 30 degrees as you reach the ocean.

It can be dramatic, & welcome respite from the inland heat.

Back on to Highway 1, and headed for The Leggett Section, one of the twistiest sections of road in the state.

Right before you start The Leggett Section is the last turnout before Highway 1 turns and heads inland.

Pretty sure I have a shot of every bike I've ever owned or ridden in this same spot.

One time I led this tour on a Bandit 1200

Another time I had a BMW K1200R

And another time I led this tour on a borrowed Honda CBR1000RR

Still one of my all-time favorite bikes. I had two.

We love The Leggett Section & it love us. Endless mountain turns for 22 miles, no people.

The Leggett Section of Highway 1 goes something like this. It's 22 miles across the range.

Reaching the other side of the range always requires a stop for fuel & ice cream

Then the last push out to the coast to reach Shelter Cove.

Redwood Forest never gets old no matter how many times you ride through it, so cool these massive trees that can easily reach heights over 300 feet.
