EV vehicles

@TallTom there is just a ton of misinformation and ignorance around EV’s and its infrastructure. Hydrogen is not a viable solution in North America due to its cost. OEM’s are spending more on R&D BEV than hydrogen be it fuel cell or combustion. I do believe hydrogen is great addition to the EV sector but refueling stations will suffer much of the same challenges as EVSE’s do today.

They all have a long way to go. EVs are farther along in development all due to Elon. But it has a lot of shortcomings still. I hope they move away from Lithium and develop better storage solutions. It's far from helping our planet.

And hydrogen is being looked at more and more. Like anything else......throw enough $$ at a problem......Getting a hydrogen delivery network, wouldn't be much different than the current fuel distribution infrastructure we have now. I don't know the volumetric differences between them, but tanker trucks are tanker trucks.

I agree very much that more than one solution adds to a total move away from fossil fuels.

A friend of mine who has a Tesla S and lives in our capital told me his car wouldn't start the other day after work....he waited on the flatbed to come take it away and when it got there, the car wouldn't go into neutral so it could be hauled onto the flatbed-the driver needed to put dollies under the tires...

Tesla called him and told him it needs some module but they are back ordered and it might take a few weeks....

This is the second module it has needed....he is getting less and less interested in this car...

GM just pulled the plug on their EV truck line. DOA.
Not exactly. GM is pausing the conversion of a plant to exclusively build EV trucks. The project is still happening, giving people time to reevaluate what is inevitable. Surprise, currently the market for these oversized vehicles doesn’t overlap enough with environmentally concerned customers. The current Silverado is giant; the current Chevy Colorado is about the same size as the old Silverado. All this made it easier for me to retire; I don’t like the GM product any more.

Never the less the ev trucks are not capable of what they were pitched to people to be able to do. A fully loaded Lightning with trailer gets 80-100 miles before needing a charge. One can’t take vacation with those kind of numbers.

The Ford CEO learned this the hard way...so much that he engaged his gang to build 50.000 charging stations....what he didn't realize is that there are 50 million needed....

The strike is going to put plants here out of business. Ford/Lincoln is moving production to China. The 2024 Nautilus is first. Already ordered and being built. Others will follow. If the UAW wants to hold out for 46% pay raise and go down to 4 day work week they are on crack and will wind up putting themselves out of work.

Pretty much how we ended up being so dependent on off-shore manufacturing to start with.....the workers priced themselves out of work.

I don’t understand how the UAW thinks this is fair to request? No other company can sustain itself by giving people a 50% raise and getting less work out of them?
IDK. UPS just launched a pretty big salvo. $170K for a non degreed, non owner operated truck driver.

I just mailed a duty free package weighing 6 ozs and measuring 6x5x1 to Canada for $15.75. That was the cheapest they had.
