Another democrat bringing up Trump...because someone doesn't like Biden.
I said Nothing about Trump either.
Sad really, let it go.
You can start by naming all of Biden's great accomplishments.
Go ahead...I'll wait.

Major sporting events people chant Biden name.
Also making new artist famous for songs called Let’s Go Brandon.

Anybody watch "King of the Hill?" Especially the part where the guys all stand in the alley drinking beer..

Earlier today 3 neighbors and I were out standing at the end of one of the driveways and they were drinking a beer (I don't drink) and a Tesla went by...we all watched it drive by and one of the guys who is a very recently retired (35 yrs) military trucker said he sure can wait until we have to drive those things....we all nodded and said "yup."

It was pretty funny and I said as much...generally we four get together in one of the driveways with our snow blowers when we are all out clearing snow...we are just early this year (no snow...yet).

Crazy, now some in power are saying we need to get rid of vehicles altogether....

What are we supposed to do to get around especially in the rural areas...I guess it's back to the horse and buggy....what a bunch of jack-arses...

I've heard this sort of story time and time again when it comes to EV..

An acquaintance of mine recently traded his Tesla in because besides always needing something fixed, he was always worried about getting to where he was going even though there are lots of charging stations along his route...he said last winter he was constantly charging it...he said if it was a gas vehicle the mileage would have been atrocious...

Range Anxiety is the biggest reason why EVs aren't doing better.

I just started a transport company. I looked at the Ford Transit E Van. The range just wasn't where it needed to be. It was close. It's that "close" that causes the anxiety.

They have a Hybrid version in Canada, that I will hope becomes a choice in U. S. soon.

Meanwhile I'm forced to pay increasing fuel cost in the meantime. It's a giant Catch 22.

I would think at the technology progresses and the ability to own an ICE vehicle is taken from us, leasing a vehicle will become very popular as it would be scary to have an EV off warranty or having to replace the batteries.

I generally own a vehicle for 10+ yrs, I wouldn't even consider owning an EV that long.

Well the biggest cost that I see is EOL battery cost. But when you run the numbers, it's still cheaper than all the ICE based recurring cost.

And the cost of batteries should go down, not up, as they produce more and improve the tech.

Ford is pricing the Transit EV the same as the ICE version. So out the gate EV is gonna save you a good bit. You just escrow in your EOL cost.

I never thought I'd utter these words again in my life. But Ford seems to be turning around as a company. They are getting serious about the future.

They are putting good effort into fleet concerns.

The Transit can not only be plugged into a standard outlet, it keeps track of the KW hours used to recharge so that you can capture that cost and track your use and efficiency. In my case, the vans will be plugged into grid locations off-site. They set up electricity payments like automatic payment. Bumblebee takes the van home from work. And plugs it in at his house. Bumblebee gets reimbursed for that usage. Bumblebee doesn't have to stop for gas or oil changes anymore. Bumblebee is more efficient.

If they could squeeze me another 65-80 mile per charge range, I'd already be using them. I can't afford to run out of juice with 50 miles left.

The hybrid solves all of that. They could even use less battery because the onboard charger could keep up.

Sigh. Not sure why Ford went that route only for Canada.

We here in Canada often get vehicles the US doesn't for some reason..

I think the hybrid idea has merit, probably more than an EV. The next big hurtle will be updating/upgrading the electrical infrastructure to be able to handle the huge power draw EVs will demand both commercially and residentially.

I think it sucks

I think it won't make sense, until a newer tech...like wireless energy ...that auto charges through air....which would power lots of other stuff too...imagine never having to plug car in or cell phones in.

I really don't understand why people don't focus more on e-fuels. I mean ... we Germans invented this over 70 years ago to refuel our planes because we were cut off from oil in WWII. Since ... no further development? Is the eco lobby really so powerful as to want to put this battery crap on our eyes? The head of development at Honda Europe, Mr. Berger, said in an interview that you could easily supply the current combustion engines with it, they could even expand all exhaust gas control systems, the Bikes/Cars would burn almost emission-free. Certainly the price would be extremely high because the production is expensive, but let's be honest, if the masses buy it, the prices also go down. All of this electromobility is a sham, the infrastructure here in Germany is not even 10% complete and the costs have so far been completely opaque. Electricity prices are rising massively, do they really mean it will be cheaper? Even if you reach the range over 400 kilometers at some point? Even the post office is doing away with its electric vehicles because they are unreliable, especially in winter and the constant reloading slows down delivery massively. What are you driving again now? Diesel! Yes, this is what progress looks like.
