Gen 3 Performance

I know everyone is awaiting the ECU flash with baited breath-I'm not that certain as to just how much it will make gains....

The GSXR is a different engine set up for an entirely different purpose...the gen 3 engine is set up for mid range via cam profiles so those will need to change to gain more top end or am I out to lunch?

If they are changed, won't the mid range go to a similar level of a gen 2?

Not saying the gen 3 can't be a barn burner with enough effort and time....and more importantly....money...
I hope after the reflash she comes out like a beast with some nice numbers

HTP Performance
Has a Motec ECU and keeps all the gizmos

209 hp. With stock engine
I’m told $4,500 US

Or just get a used ass gen 2 and mill the head on it and boom 210+ lol or a stock zx14r on mr12 boom 210+.
But maybe I'm one of the only ones who like saving money

With less money, I will have a good set up of 30 or 40 shot of NOS , Reflash and good fuel it gonna be more than 209hp for sure and fasterrrrrr..lol
Mine made 199 on the local Dyno on 86 and 300hp on a "75" shot on 118 I think the entire nitrous kit was like 350 bucks lol more then enough power to have plenty of fun on dang ol girl is still alive with boost now making a good bit more lol

Talked to Chris Moore last night in Miami.... actually, Broward County Bike Night at Marina 84... it's all Miami now. but anyway, he is hoping that the ECU is cracked by end of summer... don't quote me or start calling him as he was just saying that the R1 was Euro whatever and the ZX10 as well and those are able to be tuned now so he hopes that now that the code is cracked it will make everything move much faster in terms of figuring out the ECU. Fingers Crossed!!!
Pretty amazed at all the lengths he's gone through to take weight out of his GSXR1k and man is it sick! Magic Mike had his Gen3 Busa there as well and I bet if it's much longer on the ECU both of these guys Busas will have Motec in them. Mike said lots of good things about it and emphasized how much more control you can get out of it. He didn't like the price of it tho lol
Heard some trash talking going on so hopefully Chris whoops some tail and represents for the ZukNation as he calls it!!
In all was a super cool night, Chris and Mrs Moore Mafia were super cool as was Mike and his wife. I like when people aren't "too good" to take a moment and talk to the poors like they're on the same level.

Will be interesting what it will make with the ECU unlocked.

I've seen write ups that the liter bikes made big gains with the ECU getting unlocked...they are over 200hp these days.

What I’m still slightly confused about is that Suzuki had years and years to play and develop the engine. While all reports are that the engine is a beast in the midrange, with all the latest smarts and egghead engineer’s, they ended up dropping top hp, (on paper anyway, seat of the pants, who knows). And we all know, a 1340cc engine ain’t no lightweight, 1 litre engine, it has balls

I get that and agree but I was just ready for something new. I’ve had enough Gen-1’s and still have my Gen-2 so wanted to see if it’s improved as much as the Gen-2 was over the Gen-1. Without a doubt, it’s a better bike all around even if peak numbers aren’t higher (at least on paper).

IMO, it’s still the best platform to build and for sure the best for what I use them for. I’ll do the similar mods/build and see what it takes to run 200MPH+!

I think it’s all about Euro5 emissions/displacement/noise requirements.

I was mentioning to @sixpack577 that I believe Suzuki made this engine to be turbo'd from the factory but probably costs and Euro 5 quelled that idea.

I'd imagine will all the real time research the engineers and design teams did, they probably found the Hayabusa spent most of it's life in the mid range...and figured since the bike is governed, top speed means little.

I think it was a smart move even though the name Hayabusa needed to be reborn as a pavement shredder to strike fear into the other bikes....however I digress....

Who knows what they thought.
About your turbo and Euro 5 thoughts:

A 900cc with turbo designed to latest automotive best practices would easily meet Euro5, would have much better fuel consumption than the 1340 and would beat it easily in both torque and hp output at much lower RPM. In short it would be a much more efficient machine.

Your every day driver plain Jane Mercedes on the street today makes more than 400hp out of a 2 liter motor.

...and it would have cost Alot more money to make.
It's already an expensive machine for the market, a turbo would've pushed the retail much higher.
Covid probably had it's part in delays too(supply chain).
Consider the B-king was to be factory supercharged as well...and that was scrapped last minute.
I think @Bumblebee makes a good point.

Sure a 900 makes sense...look at what Kawasaki did with a supercharger and a 1000...

However, Suzuki already had the 1340 and the gen 2 chassis so why reinvent the wheel....? If I look at what Suzuki did to the engine internals, it sure looks stout enough to handle lots of boost...

The only think I actually think is cool that they did was add cruise control lol. But that's for a young man. At the ripe old age of 36 I'm done riding sport bikes on the roads.

Htp stacks are ready $345.00 the set as stated the engine will need tuning for maximun gains
