Saw the 99 Busa at Sears Point -----copper silver..hmmm...tried to get excited..
Did in a way...but not too much..then the next year saw a Blue-Silver at the dealer..I thought Whoa...thats very cool looking..Then after reading John Burns write up..Holy shiat Mildred Shiat the bed......great read....then a year or so later found an 01 slightly used and abused..for 9,400 and got a 3,500 trade in for bike i had...Now i am starting my third summer of riding the mighty Busa and could not be happier...Pure Love---whatta a scooter..just use Brain wrist control and you will survive this madness--------

Wow, who is digging up these old posts?

NEways.

I got it cause I thought it was one of the most beautiful bikes I had ever seen (besides the ducati 999 which was so out of my pricerange it wasn't even funny).

Then when I found out it was the fastest production bike ever, I fell in love for the very first time. blush.gif

I tired of running the twisties on an HD ultra. I wanted a real sport bike and this one fit the best, I guess. It's the only one I looked at and I was on the Harley when I found it. Took me 3 hrs to convince myself to buy it. Then I found out about its reputation and was overwhelmed. biggrin.gif

OTHER

When I decided to get another bike to replace the 1991 Honda CBR F2, I knew I wanted something brand new, not used. I knew it would have to be something I could reach the ground flat-footed (both feet) comfortably. It would have to be appealing to me, looks wise. It would have to be something I could use the same luggage from the F2 on, as it was still new. I wanted more than a 600, but didn't really want more than a 1000. (well, as you know THAT went out the window! tounge.gif )

*******MOST IMPORTANT THINGS*******

#1 - I can reach the ground flat footed on it....can't on any of the new 600's or 1000's.

#2 - *I* think it's purdy! That is somewhat important to us girls....even us Tom-boys! wink.gif

So I ended up with the Busa mainly for the comfort and ability to reach the ground with both feet (safety issue). But of course all anyone ever says is "gee...that's a BIG bike" ("for a girl" is what they are usually thinking! lol) But honestly, the HP was not even a factor in my decision. It was all about safety and comfort!

For me, all of the above choices apply.

Also, In my opinion. the Hayabusa is the closest thing to a cult sport bike of this generation. Suzuki's creation changed the competitive landscape of the motorcycle industry. It's the benchmark for other companies to measure against. Just read any motorcycling magazine.. You'll see terms like.. "Hayabusa class motorcycle"... "Busa Eater", "Busa Hunter".. Harley, Kawi, BMW...etc. They all know they need to somehow align their new product with a Hayabusa.

Yes, there will be other motorcycles that will out perform the Busa... It took Kawi about 7 years, but now there's the ZX-14. To me, there's just something special about owning the motorcycle that was responsible for many FIRSTS in the industry......

The "Haya---freakin'----BUSA!!" =)

I'm another "all of the above" guy, and a huge acceleration addict. The Busa kicks a**!! beerchug.gif
